The Confusions of Pleasure (Timothy Brook) - review
The founder of the Ming dynasty, the Hongwu emperor, came from a peasant background and idealised autonomous, self-sufficient agrarian communities; the dynasty he founded, however, was to oversee the economic transformation of China.
Timothy Brook's study of this in The Confusions of Pleasure is more a cultural than an economic history, focusing on changing attitudes to trade and commerce and their effects on everyday life.
The Confusions of Pleasure will be a gold-mine for those curious about the historical underpinnings of Chinese commercial traditions — and the gap between the ideology and the reality of economic life under the Ming is reminiscent of modern China — but is recommended to anyone curious about other ways of viewing the world.

 The Moral Confusions of Race
The current state of confusion over racial matters is often attributed to the affirmative action mindset and the demise of the colorblind ideal.
And yet, as the colorblind approach falls from favor, racial divisions in society appear to be deepening, with racial segregation intensifying and racial confusion spreading.
But beyond all the confusions and suffocations, the steady stream of racism charges is wearing down society’s confidence in its moral capacity.

Confusions and Delusions by Paul Hein
There seems to be a persistent confusion of a country with its government and its people.
When a government adopts a policy of sending its best and brightest off to fight and die, if necessary, in some foreign battle, it always refers to itself as the "country," as though it were, reluctantly no doubt, acceding to the spontaneous wishes of the people to go kill some foreigners.

 Automation Interface Confusions Straightened Out
It is not particular to Delphi, in fact much of this is hidden when using Delphi to control an Automation server.
Confusion arises because there are three different levels of Automation/IDispatch-related functionality that a server may or may not implement, and thus three ways that an automation controller can access the server's Automation interface.
This is because the dispinterface section is not an interface declaration per se -- instead it's a special syntax used to indicate that, given that the server has an implementation of IDispatch, here are the functions that you can access through that IDispatch's Invoke method, and the DispIds for each one.

CrimProf Blog: New Article Spotlight: Some Common Confusions About Consent in Rape Cases
Consent is both a single concept in law and a multitude of opposing and cross-cutting conceptions of which courts and commentators tend to be only dimly aware.
In so far as we are unaware of the ways in which this conceptual framework structures the way we think about consent, we risk confusing ourselves and others in undertaking to make the law of rape more just.
Some examples are (1) confusion as to whether the defense of consent ought to be deemed to consist of a mental state on a woman's part or an expression; (2) confusion about the relationship between consent to sexual intercourse and resistance to it; and (3) confusion about the relationship between force and non-consent.

Socrates is represented as extremely agile in question-and-answer, which has come to be known as "the Socratic method of teaching," or "the elenchus" (or elenchos-from the Greek term for refutation), with Socrates nearly always playing the role as questioner, for he claimed to have no wisdom of his own to share with others.

The novel follows Frank on a kind of pilgrim's progress, a virgin errand into the wilderness of real life that explores the author's uncanny insights into the nature of sin and redemption.
