 Congregation for Catholic Education
For a sharing of these initiatives and a global assessment of the situation, the Congregation for Catholic Education, the Pontifical Council for the Laity and the Pontifical Council for Culture undertook a new consultation of the bishops' conferences, of religious institutes and of various ecclesial bodies and movements.
The presence of Catholics in the university is, in itself, a question and a hope for the church.
It is for Catholic teachers and their associations, in particular, to promote interdisciplinary initiatives and cultural encounters inside and outside the university, combining critical method and confidence in reason, in order to bring face to face in the language of the different cultures metaphysical and scientific positions and the affirmations of faith.

CIN - Sapientia Christiana - On Ecclesiastical Universities
The Sacred Congregation for Catholic Education will add to the list of these Sections when appropriate, indicating for these Sections their special purposes and the more important disciplines to be taught and researched.
It is the task of the Sacred Congregation for Catholic Education, when, with the passage of time, circumstances shall require it, to propose changes to be introduced into this Constitution, so that this same Constitution may be continuously adapted to the needs of Ecclesiastical Faculties.
To meet these new demands, the Sacred Congregation for Catholic Education, responding to the mandate received from the Council, already in 1967 began to study the question of renewal along the lines indicated by the Council.

 Congregation for Catholic Education, Profile
In 1994 the Congregation for Catholic Education, in collaboration with the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, organized the 1st Latin American Continental Congress on Vocations, which took place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from May 23-27.
The congregation's second section, the Office for Universities, is responsible for, among other activities, approving new statutes for new or existing educational centers, nominating or confirming rectors and deans and approving the conferment of "honoris causa" doctoral degrees.
The Office for Catholic Schools collaborates with other dicasteries of the Roman Curia on questions of mutual interest, has contacts with bishops and with pontifical representatives abroad to remain abreast of the educational systems throughout the world and maintains relations with national and international Catholic organizations on matters concerning Catholic education.

 Symposium Papers
Among that group were representatives of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Institutes of Religious Life and for Societies of Apostolic Life, and for Catholic Education.
Yet, since 1988 (Sacred Congregation, 1988) Catholic educators have known the four dimensions of Catholic education, 1) the school’s educational climate, 2) the personal development of each student, 3) the relationship between culture and Gospel and, 4) the illumination of all knowledge with the light of faith (para 1).
I submit that the responsibility for the crisis in Catholic education is, to a large degree, due to the assimilation of postmodern philosophy, consciously or unconsciously by the Catholic community.

 1983 Sex Education
The Congregation for Catholic Education is aware of the cultural and social differences existing in different countries.
Educators will have to bear in mind the fundamental stages of such evolution: the primitive instinct, which in the beginning is manifested in a rudimentary state, meets in its turn the ambivalence of good and evil.
Given the importance of sex education in the integral formation of the person, teachers, taking account of the various aspects of sexuality and of their incidence in the global personality, are urged in particular not to separate knowledge from corresponding values, which give a sense and orientation to biological, psychological and social information.

Catholic Online - Featured Today - Papal Address to Congregation for Catholic Education
Therefore, Catholic education appears increasingly as the fruit of a mission that must be "shared" by priests, consecrated persons and lay faithful.
In light of the present social and cultural changes, it might be useful on occasions that educators make use of the work of competent specialists to help seminarians understand more profoundly the exigencies of the priesthood, recognizing in celibacy a gift of love to the Lord and to brethren.
You are giving particular attention to the educational plan in the seminaries, which takes into account the fundamental complementarity of the four dimensions of formation: human, intellectual, spiritual and pastoral (see "Pastores Dabo Vobis," 43-59).

 Laghi.html
The Catholic University belongs to the Church, not in the sense that it is part of the "ecclesiastical structure", but in the sense that it is an "ecclesial" institution: it is in the Church and of the Church.
That is, the Catholic University with the assistance of philosophy and theology is able to get to the roots of problems and to respond to the urgent questions and challenges of the day with an integral vision of the human being and with concern to promote the genuine good of man and society.
Stated succinctly, the notion of the institutional commitment of the University to its Catholic character or identity is that the University, as an institution is committed to being Catholic and to conforming its every official stance or action to that identity.

The Catholic Education logo represents community, diversity, and global education all lead by the Holy Spirit.
The aim of education is perceived to be "not given for the purpose of gaining power but as an aid towards a fuller understanding of and communication with all persons, events and things.

Given at Rome, from the offices of the Sacred Congregation for Catholic Education, the 6th of January in the year of our Lord 1980, the Solemnity of the Epiphany.
It must be linked to a life of neighborly love and to a search for Christ through study and to service in the kingdom of God which is present and will be present in the future in the Church.
The climate of courageous faith shown by the spiritual aspects of these "Plans" indicates that the time might have arrived for some initiatives in the spiritual field that will not be undertaken in vain.
