If congregational life took the shape of a wagon wheel, worship would be the hub for many congregations.
Worship has a way of tying together all other spokes of congregational life: education, outreach, stewardship, etc. For individual members, worship can be a grounding event that invites them home, to join with one another and the Holy, on a regular basis.
Most congregations have sacraments that are central to their worship and identity.

  An Introduction to Reformed Worship
The Regulative Principle of Worship is a historic position of John Calvin and all Reformed churches, including the forebears of the Christian Reformed Church.
And the prophets knew very well that the worship of God did not consist in the circumstance of place, in respect to which the godly were left free, while as yet the ark of the covenant had no fixed place.
The sin-offering was to excite the feeling and consciousness of sin on the part of the congregation of Israel, that whilst eating their daily levened bread they might not serve the leaven of their old nature, but seek and implore from the Lord their God the forgiveness and cleansing away of their sin.

Reformed Worship | It Takes a Team: Examining the Worship Planning Process
For example, a congregation may put lots of energy into the second stage (devise), and next to nothing into the fourth and fifth stages (realize and analyze).
It may be that a bit of focused tweaking is all that’s needed to greatly improve your congregation’s worship planning.

We can get all worked up about definitions about what it means to be missional and what missional theology is, but at some point we have to just start doing it, living it and cultivating communities of faith that are the hands and the feet of Jesus and are a foretaste of the kingdom.

While we are far from perfect and are on a great learning curve, we have found these simple practices of worship to be very, very helpful.
