Anderson also encouraged the subcommittee to amend the bill to provide for the safe as well as legal operation of vehicles by a definition which would require that a vehicle be repaired to state safety standards and pass applicable safety inspections.
We urge the subcommittee to encourage all states to implement post-collision inspections with detailed criteria for the effective maintenance of highway safety and the preservation of human life."

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A congressional subcommittee is looking into the role of national Teamsters in the 1995 election of Gov. Paul Patton.
The subcommittee is examining the Teamsters' 1996 election, in which Ron Carey narrowly defeated James P. Hoffa.
Subcommittee investigators have been told that the national union funneled $950,000 into Kentucky for the 1995 elections.

The cuts are expected to produce a couple of thousand civil servant and contractor layoffs at three NASA field centers heavily involved in aeronautics research and lead to the closure of wind tunnels and other research facilities.

U.S. Congressional subcommittee has asked the Jockeys' Guild to provide documents related to the Guild's management, accounting, and oversight of funds as well as information regarding Guild action relating to health insurance policies for on-track accident coverage.
U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY), chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, sent a letter to Jockeys' Guild president Dr. Wayne Gertmenian April 20 questioning the leadership and management of the Guild and the use of its resources on behalf of its members.
Whitfield's subcommittee is part of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and has jurisdiction over five Cabinet-level departments and seven independent agencies.

At the Congressional hearing, a Park offical admitted that only one person on his entire staff had ever seen the map that showed the land to be transferred and the College's plans for development.
Synar said he was tipped to the possibility that the College Trustees failed to approve the 1990 swap, when he obtained a copy of a resolution by the Trustees after the May hearing [5/9/94], in which the Trustees admitted their records "...do not fully and accurately record..." approval of the exchange.
