Report of the Committee on Song in Worship
The resemblance in content between prayers and songs might be maintained to be so close and important as to lead us to infer that the liberty granted in the case of prayer is quite legitimately to be taken in the case of song.
The question of the divine prescription regarding the songs that may be sung in the public worship of God must be answered, therefore, on the basis of the teaching of Scripture with respect to that specific element of worship.
We are not certain that other inspired songs were intended to be sung in the worship of God, even though the use of other inspired songs does not violate the fundamental principle on which Scripture authorization is explicit, namely, the use of inspired songs.

Fulfillment and Deferral: ADo Not Awaken Love Too Soon@
Paul Ricoeur, in dialog with Andre= LaCocque=s interpretation of the Song of Songs, concludes that the meanings of the Song are constituted by a history of reading derived from the use of this scripture to interpret different religious practices.
Used, for example, in a Christian baptismal liturgy, the Song connects a sense of fallen creation to a liturgical space that reenacts the recreation of humanity.
This conclusion is the result of a complex argument that correlates two factors: (1) early rabbinic patterns of interpretation and (2) an evaluation, on the basis of early rabbinic practice of the unpersuasiveness of erotic interpretations of the Song and interpretations of the Song as an allegory of love.

By extension, as evidenced in the TV special, The Muppets at Walt Disney World, the song has come to epitomize the ideals and artistic spirit of Henson and his company as much as "When You Wish Upon a Star" represents Walt Disney and his company.
Kermit's version of "The Rainbow Connection" reached #25 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November of 1979; the song remained in the Top 40 for 7 weeks total.
Kenny Ascher received Oscar nominations at the 1979 Academy Awards both for the entire song score for the movie and for this unlikely radio hit which Kermit sings with all the dreamy wistfulness of a short, green Judy Garland.

I also followed the "instructions" I had gotten from "Steve" to communicate to Lisa that her first hearing of this song was very important, and that she should light a candle, make sure she was alone, and listen on a high-quality CD player (vs. an mp-3 on the computer).

This is not the story (the one of many stories) of the girl that drove alone in her car on lampless streets in the wee hours of the morning, singing a song, any song, that makes one reflect on the love they lost, or face that they never loved at all.
When I was a child I listened without irony to Rainbow Connection and believed that something was on the other side of the rainbow as easily as I believed in Santa Claus, Tinkerbell, and the American Way.
The girl who first heard this song wanted to believe in the greatness of the world, and while she had learned to walk and seen butterflies die, she hadn't yet ventured into the world.

The country theme explored in some of the songs and the instrumentation may not be to everyones tastes initially, but the standard of songcraft on this album, coupled with stunning performances throughout the album should make up for any reservations you may have about investing in this great album.
Two songs in particular represent something of a stylistic departure for Elton in that the piano is not used.
In my opinion the three orchestrated songs are the best of the album, with perhaps the most memorable track being the anthemic 'Burn down the mission', in which Elton's distinctive piano and vocal styles combine with both rock band and orchestra in a glorious driving finale to the original album.

 Song Circuits
Male zebra finches sing and females do not – this behavioral difference is reflected in differences in the organization of a part of the brain known as the song control system.
These differences first emerge in an obvious way at adolescence (~ 1 month after hatching), when the pathway from nucleus HVC to nucleus RA is completed in males (but not females) and the males begin to learn to sing.
In more recent studies, we have developed methods to culture slices of the brain that contain the song nuclei just prior to the formation of the connection between HVC and RA.

One of the programs was about animal song, and it kind of ended with a question: What could be the connection between all of this going on in the animal world and human music?
People think of human music as being a cultural construct, but with any behavior that you find in humans in every culture all around the planet throughout history, chances are there's more to music than pure culture, that it goes back to some kind of biological root in the end.
With bird song, it's clear that it's not as though each element in each song carries a different message; rather it's the overall impression and emotional feeling given by the entire song that determines the meaning.
