Connectix - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Connectix Corporation was a software and hardware company, noted for having released innovative products that were either made obsolete as Apple incorporated the ideas into system software, or were sold to other companies once they become popular.
It was formed in October 1988 by Jon Garber; dominant board members were Garber, Bonnie Fought (the two were later married), and close friend Roy McDonald.
McDonald was still Chief Executive Officer and president when Connectix finally closed in August 2003.

 SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT v. CONNECTIX CORP., 203 F.3d 596 (9th Cir. 2000) (LOISLAW)
Connectix engineers initially used this copy of the Sony BIOS to begin the reverse engineering process, but abandoned it after realizing that it was a Japanese-language version.
Connectix's commercial use of the copyrighted material was an intermediate one, and thus was only "indirect or derivative." Sega, 977 F.2d at 1522.
Accordingly, we conclude that Connectix's intermediate copying of the Sony BIOS during the course of its reverse engineering of that product was a fair use under 17 U.S.C., as a matter of law.

The Connectix Quickcam Technical FAQ (Proposal) December 4, 1997 This document is archived at http://www.cs.duke.edu/~reynolds/quickcam/ This file lists answers to some of the often heard technical questions about the Connectix Quickcam line of digital cameras.
According to Connectix's specs, the QC's CCD chip is so sensitive to infrared light, that after removing the IR filter, a room lit by the light of a TV remote control can be seen perfectly through the eye of the QC.
The Connectix method can mess up a printer that is attached to your parallel port, so the author chose a more "polite" method that will try to find your camera without barking at the printer.

Future fuzzier for Mac, Linux as MS buys Connectix tech | The Register
Linux fell off the roadmap yesterday when Microsoft announced it had bought Connectix's virtual machine technology, and in characteristic style pitched it as meaning that existing Windows users would now be able to upgrade faster to new versions by running old windows virtually on new Windows.
Products differently-purposed from Connectix's Virtual PC for Windows would therefore seem to us to stand in some considerable peril, particularly as there is at least a suggestion that Microsoft plans to roll the technology into the operating system.
Connectix currently runs on two basic host platforms, Mac and windows, and allows you to run various other operating systems on those platforms.

After this, I built-in the round, "naked" Connectix BandW QuickCam PCB into plastic parts, added a part from a Barlow lens, so that the CCD can now be nicely and safely attached to my telescope, in the focuser, at the place where otherwise sits the lens.
The underlying explanation for this could be that the Connectix QuickCam is not cooled, so that it is not at a constant temperature during the whole observation run.
The Connectix BandW QuickCam is mounted so that it is continually positioned exactly behind one of the two lenses of the binocular.
