	Comic Impact
		Conner Kent wasn't the first Superboy, and he wasn't the first Superboy to die, either.
		Technically, Clark Kent of Smallville from a pocket universe was Superboy and died fighting a time-travelling-monster-demon-villain guy.
		Conner's death was tragic and heroic, and he probably did what Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman collectively couldn't.

		Conner is a Kryptonian he deserves a krypontian name.
		I don't think it was so much about him being kriptonian, as it was about being a kid in need of an identity separate from the name "superboy" and Kon El works because at the same time it represents a his origin, his heritage but it doesn't carry the overwhelming responsability of the S shield.
		We can assume that superboy didnt take a leave from the team because that superboy didnt have the knowledge of becoming that tt superman(which is where conner went into wussiness).
