It is the smallest mobile phone operator in the country, after Orange Romania, Connex-Vodafone and Zapp Mobile and seventh on the list of phone networks in Romania.
Nevertheless, the Greek mobile phone company Cosmote (that also owns mobile phone companies in Bulgaria, Republic of Macedonia and Albania) agreed to buy the majority of shares and the management of Cosmorom from its parent company OTE (the Greek ex-telecoms monopoly) that also owns Romtelecom, Romania's fixed telephone company.
Cosmote officials believe that there is room for Cosmote România in the market of Romania where mobile penetration is at about 50% and growing fast, so they are preparing for an aggressive come back until the end of 2005 with the aim of extending network coverage and providing exclusive services, thus gaining customers.
