Conservation districts provide the departments of Environmental Protection (DEP), Agriculture (PDA) and Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) a way to implement a wide variety of environmental programs that best serve the agricultural, suburban and urban interests of their counties.
The success of Conservation Districts is due in part to their ability to successfully work with local, state and federal agencies and private organizations.
Pennsylvania's Conservation Districts are a model of effective government and among the most diverse, capable and active in the nation.

Lebanon County was declared a Conservation District by the county Commissioners on May 23, 1949, in accordance with the provisions of the "Soil Conservation Law" of 1945, Act 217 of the Pennsylvania General Assembly.

 What's New at the Susquehanna County Conservation District
The Susquehanna County Conservation District is pleased with the success of the 2006 Susquehanna County Envirothon competition.
Representatives from the Conservation District, the Department of Environmental Protection, and Army Corps of Engineers, among others, spoke on a variety of topics including environmental regulations, earth disturbance permitting, enforcement issues, and pertinent updates.
District Manager, Jim Garner gave an overview of the Susquehanna Conservation District, District programs, and staff in his introduction.

If the land comprising the proposed district is located in two or more counties, the Petition should be filed in the county where the majority of the acreage is located with copies of all related materials being sent to the other conservation district involved.
The conservation district shall forward copies of all documentation received from the Division of Conservation to the individual landowners and copies of approved certifications to the local property valuation administrator's office.
