Racial harmony message looms large in 'Titans'   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
The sad fact about most Hollywood movies that pay lip service to racial harmony these days is that, overall, they convey the exact opposite message, telling us the races are very different indeed and we have a great deal to fear from one another.
The best thing about Denzel Washington's new movie, "Remember the Titans," is that -- unlike so many of his films ("Malcolm X," "The Hurricane") -- it really does communicate an optimistic sense that race is irrelevant and we can all live happily ever after together.
Otherwise, "Remember the Titans" is pretty much your standard "Rocky"-style competition movie, with some gripping gridiron moments and some agreeable rise-to-the-occasion heroics but no real surprises on its way to the big, fourth-quarter finish for the state championship.

Movie Info for Passion and Paradise, Part 2 on MSN Movies
In Part One of the 4-hour TV movie Passion and Paradise, the audience was made privy to the social rise of the redoubtable Alfred de Marigny (Armand Assante), a British wastrel living in the Bahamas who'd managed to marry the daughter (Catherine Mary Stewart) of England's richest man, Sir Harry Oakes (Rod Steiger).
The higher-ups of the Bahama Islands sincerely hope that de Marigny is the killer, if only to get rid of the dreadful man. So anxious are certain parties to hang de Marigny that an official conspiracy to cover up vital evidence takes shape.
Filmed in Jamaica, Passion and Paradise painted so damning a portrait of Bahaman high society that several scenes (including most of those featuring the Duke of Windsor) had to be rewritten and reshot before the film's British TV release.

Gary Westfahl's Bio-Encyclopedia of Science Fiction Film: Glen A. Larson
While little more than a science-fictional take on the pathetic sitcom My Mother, the Car, the series came together remarkably well, largely due to the accident of what was, for Larson, the unusually appealing cast of the charismatic David Hasselhoff, the urbane Edward Mulhare, and the sardonic William Daniels as the voice of the car.
Still, suckers are like buses—there's always a new one coming around—and ongoing expansion in the syndication and cable markets of the 1990s created new opportunities for Larson series, though it was not unexpected to learn that another effort to recycle Knight Rider, Team Knight Rider, and another derivative superhero, NightMan, failed to attract many viewers.
After two widely panned tv movies in 1999—The Darwin Conspiracy and Millennium Man—fans of quality television might have reasonably hoped that Larson, now in his sixties, would consider retirement.
