In the latest big merger in the utility industry, FPL Group (FPL) and Constellation Energy (CEG) said Monday that they will merge in an $11 billion stock deal that will create one of the largest U.S. energy powerhouses.
Mergers are sweeping the energy industry — especially after federal legislation last year allowed utilities to form interstate mergers.
Under the agreement, each common share of Constellation will be converted into 1.444 shares of the new entity, and each FPL common share into one share of the new company.
