The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is a trade show held each January in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association.
From 1978 to 1994, CES was held twice each year: once in January in Las Vegas known as Winter Consumer Electronics Show (WCES) and once in June in Chicago, Illinois known as Summer Consumer Electronics Show (SCES).
The 2006 CES show took place on Thursday January 5 to Sunday January 8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

At least that's the hope of the technology industry, which made it clear, yet again, last week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that the "digital living room" is everybody's holy grail.
Of course, the industry's been singing this song since the early '90s, when people like Michael Dell and Bill Gates used to put the Comdex crowds to sleep with promises of personal computers acting as a media hub for the whole house, serving up music, video, video games and photos to any room you wanted.
"For a consumer, it depends on how risk averse you are," says Ross Rubin, an analyst with the NPD Group, another tech research firm.
