Contact (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Contact is a 1997 science fiction film adapted from the novel by Carl Sagan.
The film ends with Ellie receiving a new government grant to continue her SETI project at a newly-expanded array, followed by a shot of the words "For Carl" set against a backdrop of stars, as a dedication to Sagan.
The film was nominated for a "best special effects" Saturn Award, a "best individual achievement: effects animation" Annie; and won an "outstanding visual effects" Golden Satellite Award and a "best use of animation as a special FX in a theatrical" WAC award.

Contact film review In Film Australia
Contact is based around the life of Eleanor Arroway (Jodie Foster), a determined and enthusiastic scientist who developed her fixation for the stars as a child while searching for radio signals.
Well at this point in the film, there is no reason why Ellie shouldn’t go as she discovered the message and decoded most of it.
Though where Contact looses it, and fails to maintain that mysterious atmosphere, is that it is much to literal in its ending.

"Contact" Film Review by Larry Klaes
Now the film did not show exactly where the microwave broadcasts would truly lie in space in relation to their age, but this is one instance where I forgive the lack of complete accuracy.
In the film version, the Message was sent on the hydrogen line at 4.4623 gigahertz, a frequency which equals the hydrogen line frequency times the value of pi (in the novel, it was broadcast at 9.24176684 gigahertz and also on the 1667 megahertz hydroxyl (water) line).
One thing the film skipped on that was in the culmination of the novel was the significance of pi, a transcendental number (3.14159...) representing the ratio of the circumference of the diameter of a circle.

Contact is an exceptional example of a movie that DESERVES to exist.
From the spectactular beginning shot that shows us just how small we are in a world that once thought the universe was made for, and around, mankind; to its realistic conclusion that any X-Phile would expect to happen: this movie appeals to our humanity, intelligence and sense of adventure.
