		Contact Group Ministers met in London on 29 January to consider the critical situation in Kosovo, which remains a threat to peace and security in the region, raising the prospect of a humanitarian catastrophe.
		The Contact Group praised the present role of the OSCE Kosovo Verification Mission in working to reduce tensions in Kosovo and create the conditions for political dialogue, and recognised the continuing role of the KVM.
		The Contact Group believes that the framework it has set out meets the legitimate aspirations of the Kosovo Albanians and demanded that their leaders rally behind negotiations to reach a settlement and end provocative actions which would impede the political process.

	Luxembourg Presidency - International Contact Group on the Mano River Basin, Region of West Africa
		The Contact Group called on all Liberian parties to engage constructively in the preparations for elections to be held on the 11 October 2005 and underscored that the date of the elections cannot be postponed.
		In this regard, the Contact Group underlined the importance of ensuring the early return of Liberian refugees and the resettlement of internally displaced persons, and urged the UN specialized agencies and the International Community to redouble their efforts in support thereof.

	CGRFA Third Intersessional Contact Group ENB Report
		The third Inter-sessional Contact Group Meeting on the revision of the International Undertaking on Plant Genetic Resources (IU), in Harmony with the Convention on Biological Diversity, was held in Tehran, Iran, from 26-31 August 2000.
		One group of developed countries stated that problems on the issue of IPR and benefit-sharing were due to lack of a clearly defined mechanism for implementation, and suggested that a drafting group have a brainstorming session to produce ideas for future consideration.
		They noted that their submission of 29 crops to the contact group was subject to conditions including, inter alia: adoption of a mechanism for benefit-sharing; consensual adoption of the IU; use of genetic material under the MS to be used only for food purposes; and access to genetic material relevant to the private sector.

	Contact Group Statement
		The Contact Group paid tribute to the work done by the former Prime Minister Rexhepi and noted the fact that these elections were conducted in a calm and peaceful atmosphere and were free and fair in accordance with the OSCE and Council of Europe assessments.

	The Porvoo Contact Group Meeting, 3-8 September 2000
		A meeting of the Porvoo Contact Group was held in Durham, between 5 and 8 September 2000.
		The Contact Group meeting immediately preceded the Porvoo Theological Conference which was attended by theologians from each of the Porvoo churches and organised by the Contact Group.

		The English Contact Group is an Austrian-wide group of tax officials who have an excellent knowledge of English and are capable of dealing with such international tax cases where the use of the English language is absolutely necessary.
		In particular the members of the group are of assistance to the Federal Ministry of Finance in areas such as international mutual agreement procedures under Double Taxation Conventions, elaboration of studies of Austrian tax law upon request of foreign tax administrations, and responses to inquiries from non-residents in the English language.

		Members of the International Dry Bulk Terminals Contact Group are aware that the European Commission announced its plans to develop a Directive on the Safe Loading and Unloading of Bulk Carriers at the end of 1998.
		As a result the Executive Committee of the Group approached the maritime division of the Transport Directorate with a request to be included in the Working Group.
		Group Members are encouraged to read the full text of the Proposed Directive and note that its content, purpose and impact will be a major discussion item at the Group meeting in Gijon from 14-15 September.
