		The Contemporary English Version (New Testament, 1991, full Bible, 1995) "was begun in 1984 by the American Bible Society.
		Millions and millions of readers have adopted the New International Version as their 'Bible.' Since 1987 it has outsold the King James Version, the best-seller for centuries—a remarkable indication of its popularity and acceptance in the Christian community.
		The New King James Version (1982) is a revision of the King James Version, called for primarily due to the same reasons given for the New Revised Standard Version.

	Contemporary English Version
		The CEV project was apparently modelled after the process followed in missionary Bible translation projects undertaken by ABS employees in undeveloped countries, where simple draft translations (often based upon simple English versions like the CEV) are gradually improved by ABS consultants who compare the work with the original language texts.
		The CEV is very careful to steer readers away from the "sexist" interpretations found in all English Bibles prior to their generation.

		I would think that the biblical scholars who work on English translations would surely have at least as much exegetical knowledge of the translation options for a phrase like ex ergon nomou as the clergy would, who, with the current literal translation are expected to explain the meaning of the phrase to the laity.
		I have often noted that some Christians attempt to 'use' their version as an aid in their disagreements with others instead of allowing a translation to be a translation and engaging others based on a hermeneutical paradigm rather than just falling back on a particular translated text.
