Topic: Continuous cruiser

In the News (Thu 16 Feb 12)

  Joy Rides | Metropolis Magazine | August/September 1999
True, cruiser design borrowed much from the outsize automobiles of the times, but the bikes--with curvaceous frames, balloon tires, sweeping handlebars, and elegant fenders--managed to convey an unspoiled sense of fun and whimsy, a promise that adventure lay only as far away as the next cul-de-sac.
The cruiser was the country's dominant style of bicycle from the early 1930s into the 1960s, and even after it faded from popularity it retained a strong iconographic appeal, due largely to its uniquely American design.
The cruiser's three-part principle remains the same as it was nearly 70 years ago: that simplicity and durability can be achieved with style, that the best steel tube is a curved steel tube, and that it is more important to be good-looking than fast.

The Starfleet Museum - Klingon D7 Cruiser
The D7 cruiser, which was to become the symbol of Klingon military power in the second half of the 23rd century, was introduced during a time of political change following almost 100 years of continuous galactic conflict.
The Klingons had actually began work on their own long-range cruiser, to be known as the D7, in the mid-2230s, in parallel with work on the D6 strike cruiser.
IKS T'KEK, a D7-class cruiser presented to the Federation by the Supreme Admiral (commander-in-chief) of the Klingon Imperial Fleet in 2293 to mark the signing of the Khitomer Accords, is now on display at the Starfleet Museum.

Built specifically for river cruising and completely refurbished to a high standard in 1992, the M/S Mayakovsky is today considered one of the finest vessels on Russia's waterways.
Built in the late seventies and specifically designed for cruising the inland waterways, the MS "Mayakovski" was completely refurbished in 2002 and has continually received the highest praise for its friendly service, reasonable bar prices, and a superb onboard entertainment program featuring lectures, seminars and concerts performed by some of Russia's top entertainers.
While on board, there is a continuous program of entertainment, including music and dance provided by some of Russia and the Ukraine's most famous entertainers; special concerts and events on an optional basis; culinary afternoons - the ‘Blinis Caviar and Champagne Party' is not to be missed - and visits to out-of-the-way places.

 K't'inga class - Memory Alpha - A Wikia wiki
The K't'inga-class battle cruiser was the primary class of warship in service with the Klingon Imperial Fleet from the late 23rd century through the late 24th century.
K't'inga-class cruisers were in service as early as 2272, when the Epsilon IX station recorded the destruction of three K't'inga-class vessels by the V'Ger entity.
Those cruisers equipped with cloaks installed prior to 2290 were known for the particular weakness of not being 100% efficient at blocking gamma-ray output.

ROBOTECH: Zentraedi Naval Vessels - Thuverl Salan Heavy Cruiser   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
The basic hull shape of the Thuverl Salan was that of a bulged wedge, with a superstructure rising from amidships and continuing to the rear.
In action, the Thuverl Salan cruisers proved to be quite effective, completely outclassing any smaller ship such as the Tou Redir, and having the upper hand when going against older Zentraedi designs such as were used by the Disciples of Zor.
The Earth forces commisioned 29 surviving Thuverl Salan cruisers in the RDF Zentraedi fleet and later captured twelve more, but those were all drained of protoculture and stored in solar orbit around 2019.

Narrowboat - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The maximum length is 75 feet (22m, the length of the locks on the narrow canals).
A few boats are lived on permanently: either based in one place (though long-term moorings for residential narrowboats are currently very difficult to find) or continuously moving around the network (perhaps with a fixed location for the coldest months, when many stretches of canal are closed by repair works or "stoppages").
As with the cruiser stern, the deck is extended back from the hatch and rear doors, but in this case most of the deck is protected at the sides by walls which extend back from the cabin sides - giving a more sheltered area for the sterer and companions, usually with lockers to sit on.

 Chrysler PT Cruiser car reviews
We had a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser for eight days, during which we gave many tours of its interior, heard three New Beetle owners say they wished they had waited so they could get a PT Cruiser, and were asked "How do you like it?" by at least two dozen people.
The interior is spacious, though the PT Cruiser is actually shorter than the Neon.
Overall, the PT Cruiser may not be as large as, say, a Chevy Suburban, but it's extremely nimble and the flexible layout and design means that you can use it for hauling people or cargo, even eight foot long boards.

A permanent mooring brings with it certainty, and varying levels of security, services etc. In many parts of the UK, residential moorings are simply not available to meet the current demand and boaters may have had their names on a BW waiting list for years.
Continuous Cruisers either cannot obtain or simply prefer not to have a permanent mooring but instead moor up on the towpath (no facilities, no security, and generally a requirement to stay no more than 14 days at one place).
The definition of continuously cruising in terms of time/distance has yet to be clarified by BW.

Continuous cruiser - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Continuous Cruiser (CCer) is a term referring both to a class of license fees for boats used on the inland waterways of the United Kingdom, and to the lifestyle associated with these boats.
Some boaters used the system 'continuously', living on their boat as they travel around the country, without the need for a home mooring.
At present (2005) a Continuous Cruiser pays the same license fee to use the waterway as a boater with a home mooring, but it appears this may change soon.
