The CBM principle is that the opposite side of the body to the moving leg is moved forward (or backward) in synchronisation when initiating a Turn or entering an Outside Partner position such as a Lock Step or a Feather Step.
Outside Partner Movements are among the most misunderstood and badly danced, even in international championships and therefore need a great deal of practice in order to maintain the three essentials of (a) body contact, (b) an undistorted Hold and (c) an artistic partnership posture.
This is known as Contra Body Movement Position (similar to CBM but with the stepping foot moving across the line of the other foot, giving the appearance of CBM having been used but without turning the body).
