Experiment - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A controlled experiment generally compares the results obtained from an experimental sample against a control sample, which is practically identical to the experimental sample except for the one aspect whose effect is being tested.
In many laboratory experiments it is good practice to have several replicate samples for the test being performed and have both a positive control and a negative control.
The negative control demonstrates the base-line result obtained when a test does not produce a measurable positive result; often the value of the negative control is treated as a "background" value to be subtracted from the test sample results.

Experimental control - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Experimental controls are used in scientific experiments to prevent factors other than those being studied from affecting the outcome.
In this example, and in medical trials generally, the experimental control comes in the form of a control group, a group that is observed under ordinary conditions while another group is subjected to the treatment (or other factor) being studied.
In other cases, an experimental control is used to prevent the effects of one variable from being drowned out by the known, greater effects of other variables.

 MIDDECK ACTIVE CONTROL EXPERIMENT (MACE)
Since the success of such flexible control is intimately dependent upon the accuracy of the spacecraft model used for control design, MACE is essentially a spacecraft modeling validation effort where success is determined by the control performance and predictability that is achieved in earth orbit.
Controllers are also designed based on the measurement models and, by comparing the performance obtained with that achieved using the finite element based controllers, the designer can understand the cost-benefit of further FEM refinement (Step D).
The performance achieved by controlling the flexibility in the system is compared to standard industry practice where instrument pointing servo control is closed with a bandwidth roughly equal to one tenth of the frequency of the first flexible mode.

As I have stated elsewhere, the idea of combining multiple tactics for varroa control is one of the best long-term strategies for pesticide use reduction, minimization of resistance, and environmental safety (to bees and humans).

 Experiment Controller Preface
In this type of system, experiment control is relegated to an inexpensive machine while a computer with many resources provides for general services such as word processing, laboratory information management, and analysis.
Many computer-based experiment control systems are arrived at with what appears to be the most inescapable of deductive logic but yet don't catch on.
The current Experiment Controller is less complex, is solder masked to virtually eliminate "solder splashes," and is silk screened with the parts placement.

In response to this, the valve position increasingly oscillates and would tend towards on-off control when the valve oscillates between the fully open and fully closed position.
At low proportional bands, the process was prone to oscillate before returning to a steady state and this oscillation in process variable tended to be away (offset) from the setpoint.
A proportional band of 100 indicates that the control valve will move over 100% of its range for a 100% measurement sensing range.

An inxpensive experiment control interface for IBM PCs
Its prototypical niche is the control of inputs and outputs for an operant experimental chamber ("Skinner box").
Our implementation strategy for the experiment control system was based on the notion of a network of "smart" apparatuses, rather than a complex interface that enables a single computer to control events in multiple experimental stations.
In this network arrangement, experiment control programs are transferred from a general-purpose computer to the experimental stations, and data are returned to the "supervisory" computer across the serial line.

The most novel aspect of the apparatus is that it has a configuration in which the time-varying movement of a right half plane transmission zero across the imaginary axis makes it impossible to control the process with a linear feedback controller.
This appears to be the first educational laboratory experiment designed to clearly illustrate the extreme effects that time-varying dynamics can have on controllability of the process.
Example identification and control results illustrate the use of the experiment in an undergraduate process control laboratory.
