Control unit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A control unit is the part of a CPU or other device that directs its operation.
The outputs of the unit control the activity of the rest of the device.
Words of the microprogram are selected by a microsequencer and the bits from those words directly control the different parts of the device, including the registers, arithmetic and logic units, instruction registers, buses, and off-chip input/output.

Engine Control Unit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This kind of electronic control is less common in piston-engined aeroplanes than in automobiles, because of the large costs of certifying parts for aviation use, relatively small demand, and the consequent stagnation of technological innovation in this market.
Gear control : Tells the ECU to cut ignition during (sequential gearbox) upshifts or blip the throttle during downshifts.
They generally do not have the ability to control extra ancilliary devices, such as variable valve timing if the factory vehicle was a fixed geometry camshaft or boost control if the factory car was not turbocharged.

 Märklin Trains:
Control 80f units and Interface units attach to the right side of the Control Unit either directly or by means of one of the extension cables available from Märklin.
The 6038 cable is 72" long which allows you to control the train from a distance of 6 feet from the Control Unit, and the 6039 cable is 25" long.
The older Digital control units such as the 6020 and 6023 had booster cable connections configured so the ribbon cable went down to the table top when the plug was inserted correctly in the rear of the Booster and the Control Control Unit.

Electronic control unit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An Electronic Control Unit or ECU (also known as an "engine management system") is an electronic device, basically a computer, in an internal combustion engine that reads several sensors in the engine and uses the information to control the fuel injection and ignition systems of the engine.
Because the ECU is dealing with actual measured engine performance from millisecond to millisecond, it can compensate for many variables that traditional systems cannot, such as ambient temperature, humidity, altitude (air density), fuel octane rating, as well as the demands made on it by the driver.
Sophisticated engine management systems receive inputs from other sources, and control other parts of the engine; for instance, some variable valve timing systems are electronically controlled, turbocharger wastegates can also be managed.

 Control Unit Prisons [SHU]
By Frank J. Atwood, MA Control units are supermax prisons that have been designed by government and prison authorities to control the thinking of prisoners, to determine what the prisoners will think about, through carefully contrived sensory deprivation tactics and by focusing the attention of prisoners on immediate concerns.
In addition to deceiving the public into believing control units are necessary and house only the “worst of the worst,” prison authorities are master manipulators of prison conditions - an environment that provides absolutee control over the lives of prisoners living assignments, files, medical treatment, food, mail, recreation, and a host of other prisoner activities.
Control units attempt to brainwash and mentally debilitate prisoners through systematic programs of oppression such as isolation, physical abuse, psychological torture, medical neglect, and other sinister forms of behavior modification.

 CPU Control Unit Implementation
E. The job of the control unit designer is to develop a means whereby an orderly sequence of control words may be presented to the data part (and other hardware such as the memory) - one per clock pulse.
Hardwired control: The control unit is implemented as a state machine, with combinatorial circuits generating each of the control functions on the basis of the current state and certain variables such as the op-code of the user instruction undergoing execution.
The various control words needed to implement the user instructions are stored in a ROM, with a sequencer causing the appropriate control word to be fetched at each clock cycle and fed to the rest of the CPU.

 Control Unit
The timing of CPU operation is synchronized by the clock and controlled by the control unit with control signals.
The key inputs to the control unit are the instruction register, the clock, flags and control bus signals.
These are needed by the control unit to determine the status of the CPU and the outcome of previous ALU operations.

A control unit prison is a prison or part of a prison that is in a state of permanent lockdown, a usually-temporary condition used to control and suppress disruptions within a prison by severly restricting prisoners' rights.
Control Units are used to isolate and punish those people who present a threat to the established power; for example, those who have filed lawsuits against prison officials, participated in work stoppages, or actively pursued their religious and/or political beliefs.

Furthermore, when control signals activate an ALU function, the input to ALU is transformed to output and cannot be directly connected to bus since it would feed back to ALU input (register Z provides temporary output storage).
