 Gay Journo Convention to Philly?
A meeting Sunday with NLGJA Executive Director Mike Frederickson and Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau Director of Sales Vincent Grandinetti helped give Patrick and other members a feel for what holding a national convention here would entail.
Not only would the convention garner good national press for the city, Patrick said, it would give positive reinforcement to gay and lesbian journalists in the region who would see high-profile colleagues who are out in their professions.
That goal gained steam last summer when Philadelphia hosted a meeting for 270 delegates from the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA), said Grandinetti, who also serves on the IGLTA board, as well as on an advisory board of the International Society of Lesbian and Gay Meeting Planners.

Still, there is cause for claiming that this meeting, or for that matter, the previous day's meeting, was in fact a convention; there were a few conventions in the 1960s that have had as low an attendance as these meetings and many conventions in the history of fandom that have had as informal a program.

North American Christian Convention - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The North American Christian Convention is an annual meeting of ministers and other active leaders in the Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ, a branch of the Restoration Movement.
It was first held in 1927 in a reaction to the perceived liberalism of the meeting of the Christian Church in Memphis, Tennessee the previous year; a meeting which was viewed by many "independents" as part of the slide into heresy of the group now known as the Disciples of Christ.
The NACC is supported by those Christian Churches and their leaders and members who do not reject instrumental music in worship services out of hand; they do not see its acceptance or rejection as a test of fellowship as do most congregations and members of the Church of Christ (non-instrumental).
