HB 507 - As Introduced - Convicted felon ineligible for office
By preventing a convicted felon from running for a public office, the bill would eliminate any filing fee revenues that could be generated from such candidates, and could eliminate potential legal and/or additional election costs that could arise under current law if a convicted felon were to run for a public office and win.
Under the bill, a person who is convicted of a felony is generally prohibited from being a candidate for, or an appointee to, an office of honor, trust, or profit.
There could also be a negligible decrease in the cost of printing ballots because a convicted felon would not have to be included on each ballot as a candidate for public office.

The Seattle Times: Local News: Scores of felons voted illegally
Scores of convicted felons voted illegally in the state's 2004 general election, and officials never noticed because of serious flaws in the system for tracking them, The Seattle Times has found.
Republicans' use of felon voting as a factor in their lawsuit has been countered by state Democrats, who say Republicans must show not only that felons voted illegally, but that if their votes were subtracted from each candidate's total, Rossi would have won.
Washington prohibits felons from voting not only while they are in prison but until they have met all court-imposed obligations including community service and the payment of restitution and fines.

Imagine a huge, absolutely huge, central database containing both the official and commercial data of every single citizen, run by the US military ostensibly for anti-terror and Homeland Security purposes, and all of it under the direction of a convicted felon.
Well the database is in development and coming soon, according to the New York Times; and the felon who will run it is disgraced Reagan administration liar, dirty-trickster and cover-uper Admiral John M. Poindexter, who Dubya has taken out of mothballs to keep us all safe from dreadful evildoers.
A three-judge appeals panel on November 15, 1991, reversed the convictions on the ground that Poindexter's immunized testimony may have influenced the trial testimony of witnesses.

However, what viewers may not know is that Rocco's antagonist in the battle for control of "the restaurant" -- Rocco's on 22nd Street -- is a convicted felon with a long history of pursuing litigation battles.
Fox News also reports that Chodorow, like many wealthy individuals accused of wrongdoing (such as, for example, O.J. Simpson), has moved his prinicpal residence to Florida, which permits individuals to keep their "homesteads" regardless of value in the case of personal bankruptcy.

Coalin Joshua Hume, 22, was found guilty of first-degree criminal trespass of an automobile, theft, second-degree burglary of a building, unauthorized use of a financial transaction device, criminal possession of two or more financial transaction devices, five counts of forgery and five counts of criminal impersonation.
Hume's attorney, Erick Nordstrom, argued that because no fingerprints were collected, there was no evidence to link his client to the crime except a sketchy identification by a convenience store clerk and the testimony of Hume's "friends," who admitted being high on meth the night of the incident.
Waite argued that while a key witness admitted using meth the night of the incident, much of her story was corroborated by the paper trail left by the stolen credit card receipts.

What his conviction showed was that a jury of ordinary citizens can sort and weigh complex evidence and agree that obstructing and lying to Congress is a serious act worthy of felony conviction.
