Conwy (county borough)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-17)
Conwy [county borough] is a local government principal area in north Wales.
The River Conwy (after which the county borough is named) lies wholly within the area: rising in Snowdonia and flowing through Llanrwst and Trefriw en route to the Irish Sea by Conwy.
The new name has caused confusion with the town of Conwy; for instance, Royal Mail tell people to not use the name 'Conwy' on mail to the area lest it go to the town of the same name (NB: they advise against the use of the former postal counties generally).

Conwy is one of the most interesting constituencies in Wales.
The 2001 General Election saw Plaid Cymru run a massive campaign in the constituency, but again the electors of Conwy had their own views and returned a Labour MP once more with Plaid Cymru falling back to fourth place.
Conwy at the next General Election will be a straight fight between the re-vitalised Conservative Party and tired New Labour.
