  Fethard Notes - 10th January 1998
Coolmore Stud had not indicated to the two men dismissed that an apology and acknowledgement of wrongdoing would have altered the course that they took in the matter.
Coolmore Stud said in evidence at the tribunal sitting in Clonmel that in an effort to upgrade the general effectiveness of the security at Coolmore, the two men and two others were sent on a training course on the 13th and 14th November, 1996.
Coolmore viewed the matter very seriously as staff members were not allowed to drink alcohol while on duty and Laurence Griffin, head of security, told the tribunal that all the employees who had attended the course were interviewed on the matter.

Sadler's Wells has been the foundation of Coolmore's success for almost two decades, and as their recorded message keeps telling you when the receptionist puts you on hold, "Europe's champion sire in 14 of the last 15 seasons".

The death of wonder sire Danehill at Coolmore Stud in Ireland on Tuesday at the age of 17 is a great loss to the racing and breeding world.

He was one of 12 stallions Coolmore proudly displayed to a media contingent, and probably the most inauspicious of the dozen megastars.

Super stallion Danehill, which has revolutionised the Australian breeding industry since entering stud in 1990, will not be standing at Coolmore Stud this year and might possibly have made his last trip down under.
A Coolmore spokesman said nothing was seriously amiss with Danehill, that his fertility was still sound, but the continual travel from Ireland to Australia and back had fatigued the rising 17-year-old.
Coolmore will be sending a replacement stallion for Danehill, Giant's Causeway, a five-time Group1-winning sire which stood this year's Northern Hemisphere breeding season at Ashford Stud in Kentucky.

While Ferguson is claiming his share in the Rock of Gibraltar the stallion, the Coolmore argument maintains that Ferguson’s share in the horse was purely for racing purposes and not once it had retired to stud.
Rock of Gibraltar was re-registered for stud purposes at the end of last year, though synd icate names were not published, which appears ominous for Ferguson’s chances of success with his claim.
Magnier, who, with JP McManus owns over 11% of United, has stayed silent on the issue but it appears he believes the stud income belongs to his Coolmore Stud and Ferguson was simply along for the social aspect of the racing.

Facing the Sheikh is Magnier, the owner of Coolmore stud and arguably the most powerful man in world racing given that he is the acknowledged master of breeding.
Under his driving management, Coolmore rapidly expanded with the initial cash backing provided by the multi-millionaire Sangster, himself something of a genius at owning and breeding - he virtually invented syndicated ownership and bred the greatest stallion since the 'Dancer', Sadler's Wells, who later became the foundation stallion for Coolmore's rise in the 1990s.
Sources in Ireland say Coolmore is mystified at the boycott, claiming they only buy the best horses and clearly at the moment these are Coolmore's own produce - eight of the top ten British horses this season were sired by Coolmore stallions, with the stud owning or part-owning the best four stallions in the world.
