Montreal Mirror : Film review - Over the Edge
The tone of Over the Edge is difficult to pin down-it’s at once a dark reflection of a society which has turned its back on its young citizens, a commentary on the generation gap (still resonating close to a decade after the ’60s) and a (not always intentional) comedy.
Parents panic and one renegade cop goes berserk, in footage that is clearly recalling the riots of the previous decade and a half, from Watts to Kent State.
When Dillon is interrogated early in the film by a cop, he’s urged to squeal.

Corruption and violence on the streets of Japan as a rogue cop goes over the edge in his search for justice and vengeance.
A cop who knows that rules are there to be broken, etc, etc. Except that 'Beat' Takeshi's tale makes Clint's 1971 outing look positively chirpy and upbeat.
Not averse to handing out impromptu slappings to wayward teens or running down fleeing crooks in his cop car, he's brutal but efficient.

 Gamerz-Edge - Sin City Review
Based on the Frank Miller graphic novel of the same name, Sin City’s story starts with the chase down of a Senator’s son by a good cop named Hartigan (Bruce Willis).
One person focused so much of his time on the violence that it completely overshadowed the story, which was wrong and that individual should be slapped around.
It’s difficult to give a healthy description of the story in Sin City, mainly because I could possibly give away too much and ruin it for you all.

Ziggy's Video Realm: Richard Donner directs Lethal Weapon (1987)
The first features Riggs taking out a sniper who’s threatening a schoolyard, and quite frankly is little more than overkill in its attempt to sell the point that Riggs is a cop on the edge, something already proven very well by scenes before and after.
Nowadays, when people think of buddy cops in action flicks, the first pairing that tends to come to mind is Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as Riggs and Murtaugh in the Lethal Weapon films.
Indeed, Lethal Weapon 2 is certainly a contender as one of the best buddy cop movies ever made, but you’d never have gotten to the second if it weren’t for the success of the one that came first.

The lyrics throughout are much less explicitly focused on political or wider social concerns, instead tackling internal collapses and screwups, characters worth loathing or portraits of people on the edge ("Any Day Now" is especially great, listing a series of promises that may never be filled).
Given how Cop Shoot Cop [+] had evolved its own unique sound out of the basses, drums, and samplers from the original members, becoming more of a straight-ahead rock group inevitably made the band a little less special.
What turned out to be the band's last album before the group rather messily collapsed was, in essence, Cop Shoot Cop [+] holding steady at what it does, almost.

 Forbidden City Cop
It's been commented on that one positive point of 'Forbidden City Cop' that is immediately apparent is the excellent chemistry between Chow Sing Chi and Carina Lau in the husband and wife roles.
This charming relationship gives the production an extra edge over many of Chow's other works; here he is playing a character that the viewer can really care about.
After this brief yet aimless period, Chow returned to his '008' persona with 'Forbidden City Cop' and once again regained audience appreciation.

Review: Narc -- The Austin Film Resource
Joe Carnahan keeps you on the edge of your seat, always interested, by switching the mood around throughout the film, as opposed to shoving intense cop scenes down your throat for two hours.
Joe Carnahan has definitely been influenced by other police dramas, but instead of copying them, he reinvents them and what is left is a visually stunning film, along with a well-written script (a rarity in films today), and solid performances.
What makes this opening scene more interesting than all of the other cop/criminal chases the audience has already seen too many times is that undercover narcotics agent, Nick Tellis, happens to be on drugs as well.

Then you’ve got the “bad cop” movie, where an idealistic cop is usually paired with a cynical partner who tells him “the way it is” about skirting the edge of legality in order to maintain the brotherhood of blue.

Then, of course, you’ve got the bad “cop movie.” Dark Blue, the new Kurt Russell film, is set in 1992 Los Angeles, during the tumultuous time of the Rodney King trial.

Rap gives its own edge to old rock and folk songs written by white musicians that draw on the sympathies of black listeners and the stories of black defendants.

I was weaving my way through the streets of Camarillo this morning on my route to work when I saw a few people standing on a freeway overpass with a motorcycle cop sitting near the edge with his lights blinking.
