The school system in Copley is shared with Fairlawn and has a set of three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school, having two state championships in sports, men's soccer (1994) and men's golf (2003).
The rest of the township is dotted with farms and subdivisions.

SUMMIT COUNTY was erected from Portage, Medina and Stark, March 3, 1840.
Akron in 1846.—The large and flourishing town of Akron, the county-seat, is on the Portage summit of the Ohio canal, at the junction of the Pennsylvania canal, 36 miles from Cleveland and 110 northeast of Columbus.
Those in Summit county were greatly frightened, notwithstanding its having been foretold by some of their squaws, who were not believed and put to death for witchcraft.

It is on the western edge of Summit County, bordering Akron and roughly 20 miles (30 km) south of Cleveland.
Bath is bordered by Copley Township, Fairlawn, and Akron to the south, Granger Township in Medina County to the west, Richfield Township, Richfield village and Boston Township to the north, and Cuyahoga Falls and Akron to the east.
In the township the population was spread out with 25.5% under the age of 18, 2.5% from 20 to 24, 20.5% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 17.0% who were 65 years of age or older.

 The City of Fairlawn
In 1958 the village of Fairlawn was formed from a portion of Copley Township, in Summit County, Ohio.
In December of 1978, the City of Fairlawn purchased a mini pumper and equipped it with firefighting and paramedic equipment for use at this satellite facility.
Chief Gemind brought with him an extensive amount of experience and service from Copley Township, where he was responsible for instituting their EMS and paramedic service in the early 1970's as well as maintaining Copley's progressive fire department.

COPLEY — Just in time for the start of the new school year, the new roundabout at the intersection of Ridgewood and Hametown roads opened this week.
Shown at right during the ribbon cutting are Summit County Engineer Greg Bachman; Copley Township trustees Helen Humphrys, Dale Panovich and Scott Dressler; Summit County Council District 3 representative Cazzell Smith, and Candice Carlyon, of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 4 Office.
The remainder of the $460,000 project was shared by the engineer’s office and the township.

 Summit County Board of Health v. Pearson
Summary: In this Ohio case, appellant, Lorenza Pearson, appealed from a judgment of the Summit County Court of Common Pleas that affirmed a decision of the Summit County Board of Health finding that his property was a public health nuisance.
{¶ 3} In the spring and summer of 2001, complaints regarding odors and the animals on the Pearsons' property were reportedly made to the Summit County Health Department and to the Chief of the Copley Police Department.
As a result of those complaints, on September 28, 2001, the Health Department conducted an inspection, along with the Copley Township Zoning Department, local police and fire departments, the USDA, and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife.

The Copley Township Board of Trustees at its Feb. 28 regular meeting spoke with representatives of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) who are conducting a remedial investigation of Copley Square Plaza.
The plaza, near the intersection of Copley and Jacoby roads, and some nearby homes have been monitored by the Ohio EPA since the early 1990s, when two businesses within the plaza complained about a smell and taste in their drinking water.
An investigation by Ohio EPA found the groundwater and soil contaminated with tetrachlorethene, which is used in dry cleaning.
