		Corozal Town is a town in the nation of Belize.
		Corozal was a private estate before becoming a town in the 1840s, mostly settled by Mestizo refugees from the Caste War in Yucatan.
		Much of the town was built over an ancient Maya city sometimes known as Santa Rita; this may have been the original Pre-Columbian town called Chetumal.

	Bonampak
		The archaeological site of Bonampak is located near the town of the same name in the Lacanha river valley of the Lacandon Forests of southern Chiapas, about 80 miles south-east of Palenque.
		There's a turn-off on the road to Frontera Corazal, and from here on it's a bad dirt road which is only passable during the dry season.
		Many people make a side-trip to Bonampak on their way to the larger city of Yaxchilan.

		If you speak Spanish, you could arrange trips to Yaxchilán and Piedras Negras from Frontera Corazal with the Escudo Jaguar cooperative, but you can easily join with others when there to share a boat and the boat ride to Piedras Negras from Corozal is 4 hours one way and expensive.
		but you might also check around town for other cheaper options.
