Cornish College of the Arts is a fully accredited institution in Seattle, Washington that offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance, Theater, Performance Production, Design, and Fine Art, as well as the Bachelor of Music degree.
Founded in 1914 by Nellie Cornish as the Cornish School, its students have included Nancy Wilson of Heart, Brendan Fraser, Chet Huntley, and Merce Cunningham.
Such artists as Mark Tobey, Morris Graves, Maurice and Ellen Van Volkenburg Browne, John Cage, Martha Graham, Peter Meremblum, and Alexander Koriansky have taught at Cornish, and among its artists-in-residence have been Bill Frisell and Imogen Cunningham.

Cornish College of the Arts, which announced in late May that it would relocate most of its facilities on Capitol Hill to the Denny Triangle neighborhood, has sold its three-story building on 10th Avenue East to St. Mark's Cathedral, its neighbor.
The building, designed in 1925 by Carl Gould for St. Nicholas School, was purchased by Cornish in 1984 to house its art, design, performance production and theater departments.
Cornish will continue to occupy the building, which was declared a Seattle landmark in 1981, during the coming school year.

The Seattle Academy of Fine Art will move into the St. Nicholas school building recently vacated by Cornish College of the Arts.
The academy began in New York 14 years ago as a small workshop-centered school, and has grown into a professional art school that serves more than 2,200 Seattle art students annually.
Cornish College of the Arts sold the St. Nicholas school building to St. Mark's Cathedral, and Cornish College relocated its main campus to 1000 Lenora St. The St. Nicholas building was the visual arts studio for Cornish, and needed $75,000 in renovations to prepare for the academy.
