Cornwall County was a county of the former Province of New York, established on September 5, 1665 from 25,100 Square Miles of land that had been granted to the Duke of York in modern Maine.
Cornwall County was recreated on November 1, 1683, conforming to the original grant, still part of New York.
Cornwall continued unchanged until the Spring of 1687, when Cornwall was transferred to the expanded Dominion of New England.

Conveniently located 50 miles north of New York City, and just 5 miles north of the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, in scenic Eastern Orange County, Cornwall is situated in the valley formed by Schunemunk Mountain and the Hudson Highland ridges along the Hudson River.
Part of the east town line is formed by the Hudson River with Dutchess County, New York on the opposite shore.
Cornwall on Hudson -- The Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson is in the eastern part of the town.

 Cornwall County Council - Fire Brigade Unveils Window In Memory Of New York Firefighters
Cornwall County Fire Brigade's third newly built 'community fire station' will be opened officially by County Councillor John Lobb, Leader of Cornwall County Council at a special ceremony at 2.30 pm on Saturday April 26th.
A twin window has also been donated to the New York Fire Department as a way of connecting the NYFD with their colleagues in Cornwall and honouring the firefighters and families who survived and carried on so courageously.
The partnership between Cornwall County Council and Pyramid Accommodation Services (Cornwall) Limited will, when completed this year, have resulted in the replacement of ten stations (including St Austell), the major refurbishment of two further fire stations, the upgrading of 19 others and their ongoing management over the next 27 years.

He settled in Florida, Orange County, New York as pastor of the church there, and moved to what is now New Providence in 1757.
