Corporation Park is a 20 ha (50 acres) victorian park in Blackburn, Lancashire.
A triumphal archway with flanking lodges marks the main entrance at the southern edge of the park on Preston New Road, from which the landscape rises 84 metres to meet Revidge Road in the north.
The park is currently undergoing extensive landscaping and restoration at a cost of £4.8m.

The idea for this park came in 1855 and it was officially opened in 1857.
The park has a few features inside it's boundaries including bowling greens, tennis courts, fountains, lakes, childrens play area, gardens and at one time there were two cannons at the top of the park.
The cannons were captured at Sebastopol during the Crimean war and stood at the top of the park overlooking the park and most of the town.

In September 1897 the ‘Blackburn Corporation Tramways Act (1897)’ was submitted to Parliament, an agreement between the Company and the Corporation being reached and signed on September 11th.
Towards the end of 1898 notice was given by both Blackburn and Darwen Corporation’s to the Blackburn and Over Darwen Tramways Company Limited to state their intentions to take up the option to purchase the system, as under the terms of the Acts of 1870 and 1880.
The purchasing of the two Companies had cost Blackburn Corporation a total of £109,000, which although of-set, albeit very small, by the sale of the steam engines, trailers and other items, for £7,179.14s.4d., was to be a great burden on the Corporation’s finances during the early years of electric operation, as will be seen later.

Their proposals were put to Blackburn Corporation in August 1900, which was to lay lines from the terminus of the Clayton-Le-Moors route in Accrington, from the Padiham terminus of the Burnley system and from the Whitebirk terminus of the proposed Burnley Road route Blackburn via Rishton and Great Harwood, all lines to meet at Whalley.
On April 12th Henry Haworth, a tramway ticket inspector in the employee of Blackburn Corporation was attempting to board the front of a tramcar in Whalley New Road, which was proceeding in the direction of Town, when he was knocked down by another tram car proceeding in the opposite direction.
The annual plant growing competition took place at Corporation park in August and it was decided to allow children carrying bulbs to or from the park to travel free on the trams.

The lake in corporation park once supplied Blackburn with water but as the town grew this ceased.
The lake is said to be 30ft deep in places and is the home for various wild birds including swans, geese, ducks and other birds that I can't name.
If you're ever in town go and look around the park, you'll find it good excercise walking from the bottom of the park at the main gate to the top where the cannons once stood.
