		The Corporation of London is similar to most local authorities in the way it discharges its local government duties, and the governing body of the City is the Court of Common Council.
		The Corporation’s responsibilities are diverse and its beneficiaries extend beyond the boundaries of the City and among its responsibilities are: four bridges across the River Thames, the Museum of London, the Barbican Centre, the open spaces of Hampstead Heath and Epping Forest, and the Old Bailey or Central Criminal Court.

		The area of the City of London was first settled by the Romans and is governed by the City of London Corporation, which acts as the local authority for its jurisdiction.
		The City of London Corporation have claimed that the reforms were in response to political pressure within and outside the City and are also based on a desire to widen the business vote to take in those firms that were excluded by the rule on incorporated firms not being allowed to vote.

	Corporation of London open spaces - Parks and countryside - Information - Ramblers' Association
		The Corporation of London is the local government of the "square mile" of the City of London but it also owns and manages extensive public open spaces in other parts of greater London and in the surrounding counties, including some of London's most famous green spaces like Epping Forest and Hampstead Heath.
		The Corporation of London took over responsibility for the Heath in 1989 after the abolition of the Greater London Council, and it is now run by a management committee including representation from the Ramblers' Association.
		A wildlife-rich oak and hornbeam woodland in the thick of north London, once part of the ancient Forest of Middlesex and declared "an open space forever" by the Lord Mayor of London in 1886.

		Since the Mayor of London introduced his congestion charging scheme in February 2003 the City has increased the public motorcycle parking provision in Baynard House car park from 50 spaces to 375 spaces; in Minories car park from 40 spaces to 445 spaces; and in White's Row car park from 80 spaces to 405 spaces.
