Corpus Hermeticum has the aesthetic of a home industry, recycled card sleeves are the uniform package for the releases, and it should be noted that the New Zealander was using this design long befor it became the standard alternative to the jewel case.
In the '90s, he produced records by Surface of the Earth, Lovely Midget, Doramaah, and Birchville Cat Motel, and is somewhat of a godfather to this tangent of indie noise.

Both the CDs (I have yet to hear the other recordings) are made up of scraped, droned improvised guitar and (occasionally overwhelming) percussion, both non-extreme free/noise recordings sometimes veering into non-bozo rock, both very good.
Two CDs of guitar and electronics explorations on the Sigma Editions label suggest an expansion of the ideas behind Thela...you may be able to find some audio samples at the House of Laudanum.

Recording as the Harmony Ridge Creek Dippers, they've crafted a delicate, sunbaked country rock sound complete with perfectly-written songs (that tell stories, hey!), shuffling twang, and AMAZING harmonies (imagine the break-yr-heart chord changes Jayhawks were famous for, alongside Victoria's completely unique voice).
Not that this is a bad record, in fact, for fans of the currently-burgeoning Sabbath-influenced school of stoner/doom rock/metal should be quite happy with this release.

A label originally run from Wellington by Paul Toohey, but he dragged it to Napier for a while and is apparently now living in Auckland.

By becoming a label that was manufactured and distributed by a major label they gave up a degree of control over the running of their business.
Simultaneously there was a push from some of the established artists who up to that point had had to record in a backroom lo-fi homemade kind of way, they wanted to record in real studios, which was something I was out of sympathy with.
I can't see why, in order to make an audible record of that, you would want to have the human beings do their bits seperately and then patch them together to make a representation of what it might have sounded like if they'd all been playing together in a room at the same time.
