The catchment geology of the Corrib Catchment to the east of Lough Corrib, Lough Mask and Lough Carra is dominated by Carboniferous limestones whereas the catchment geology to the west and north-west of Lough Corrib and to the west of Lough Mask consists of Silurian quartzite, schists and gneiss, with smaller outcrops of granite.
In the Lough Corrib sub-catchment, no significant difference was found for salmon fry (p=0.492) while a highly significant difference was observed for salmon parr (p=0.001) with a mean stock density value for salmon parr at experimental sites (0.118) higher than the value obtained at control sites (0.055), (table 4).
Previous survey data from the Lough Corrib and Lough Mask/Carra sub-catchments had shown that in almost all reaches of streams in these sub-catchments there were adequate quantities of gravels for spawning purposes and sufficient “holding” areas for the 0+ year old component of the salmonid stock.

They claim that a key poll finding which asked respondents their preferred development model for the Corrib gas project was not published.
"We call on RTE to publish the poll in its entirety and to explain why it jointly conducted a survey with a newspaper with a known bias on the Corrib gas issue,' it said.

Although it was not in walking distance to downtown Galway, there were plenty of taxis to take you into town, and the bus, which was some of the best public transportation I have seen, stopped right across the street and cost one euro fifty cents.
The Corrib Great Southern Hotel was a magnificent choice to stay at and for the price provided both fabulous accommodations at a very reasonable price.
