DW Seeing a Band   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
Anyway, while the guys sat around a table and drank beer and took artistic photos of their hands and things, one of them asked me if I'd like to go and see a band called "The Cosmic Psychos", which several of his friends were going to.
I didn't much care for close relationships and I wasn't sure if "The Cosmic Psychos" was a band I wanted to see, but just to be invited out with the group was an exciting development.
I did eventually get to see that band "The Cosmic Psychos", when they played at Revolver in late August of that year -- I went with my design-school companions, but the band was too loud and heavy for my tastes and I hated them.

The Cosmic Psychos are a punk band from Melbourne, Australia.
The Psychos toured Europe in September '97 and I was able to attend their gig at the Büchsenstadl in Ulm.
Again September, again the Psychos on tour: On the 8th of September 1998, the Cosmic Psychos played in Munichs Atomic Café.

The Cosmic Psychos hail from Melbourne and started around 1982 with Bill Walsh, Ross Knight, original guitarist Peter Jones and a vocalist.
The next move was to release 'Self Totalled' in 1995 and this was by far the heaviest album to date for the band.
Soon after, an unplugged EP was released in 1996, as well as a subset of this on Man's Ruin in the US and through Shock in Australia (although the Shock version had an extra track on it).

Cosmic Psychos are quite simply one of the finest practioners of three-chord no-frills punk rock playing right now.
Rather than align itself with the various trends that have emerged since its formation, the Psychos retained a distinctive sound that is tough, simple and timeless.
Sanford: There really hasn't been much musical progression from the Psychos album-to-album, which is I guess one of the reasons I like you guys so much...

The Psychos and feedtime were kinda similar earlier on, until Ross from the Psychos learned 'songwriting' and added a few more chords in there.
Wouldn't have thought it possible to say the Psychos were under-rated though, they were headlining festivals in Europe in the late 80s, played more high profile suports here as well as drawing up to 1000 people at shows in Melbourne in the last dying hours before "Nevermind".
Wouldn't say the Cosmic Psychos were under-rated in any way, shape or form (but I think the comment referred to feedtime).

A band that typified the philosophy better than anyone was the Cosmic Psychos.
If I was in a band like that and was preaching death and destruction and ‘I’m going to kick everyone’s head in’, then I’d at least try and do that, instead of drinking fuckin’ mineral water, having spoonfuls of sherbet and being nice to the kids after the show.
The Psychos are working on a new album which will be out sometime in the future.

They did two short performances before the Meanies and Cosmic Psychos and were very well received.
I saw the Cosmic Psychos play a couple of months ago at the now rooted Espy and I think that gig was what gave Ross the inspiration to put on this one as there were a lot of people who came to it just to see them.
The same was true tonight and although the advertising touted that they were going to play their old songs, that wasn't the real reason most people came I reckon.

"You can't keep a good man down," sing the Cosmic Psychos on OH WHAT A LOVELY PIE's opening track, and as proof the Aussie trio return with 10 solid headbanging, singalong songs, and their own brand of chainsaw guitar-saturated rock & roll.
OH WHAT A LOVELY PIE is a successful combination of hard-rocking and catchy tunes that hasn't been accomplished with such accuracy since the Ramones broke the scene in 1976.In true Psychos fashion, the songs here celebrate the seedier underbelly of everyday life, as well as vermin, food fetishes, and gun control.
OH WHAT A LOVELY PIE is an aural assault, and though the Psychos follow a well-beaten rock & roll path, they treat traditional punk rock with a deft and intense precision that brings the freshness back to an old sound.

The Cosmic Psychos charge with fiery exuberance on the EP Down On The Farm (Mr Spaceman, 1985), with Custom Credit and Down on the farm, and the album Cosmic Psychos (Shagpile, 1987), that contains two warhorses such as Can't Come In and David Lee Roth, besides virulent anthems such as Decadence.
By Self Totalled (Amphetamine Reptile, 1995), with Neighbours and Whip Me, and Oh What A Lovely Pie (Amphetamine Reptile, 1997) the band had mastered the art of fusing punk-rock, hard-rock and garage-rock, but not the art of writing memorable anthems.
I Cosmic Psychos si lanciano con una fiera esuberanza nell' EP Down On The Farm (Mr Spaceman, 1985), con Custom Credit e Down on the farm, e nell'album Cosmic Psychos (Shagpile, 1987), che contiene 2 cavalli di battaglia come Can't Come In e David Lee Roth, a parte inni virulenti come Decadence.
