As with the sales in the top block, the costs are projected as educated guesses, row by row, and summed in the last row.
The unit cost projection shown below is really just a different view of the same forecast table shown as the unit sales forecast.
Just as the unit sales forecast projects price per unit and multiplies price times units for sales, the cost projection estimates cost per unit and multiplies units times unit cost to calculate total cost of sales for each item.

Cost of goods sold - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In accounting, the cost of goods sold (also, cost of sales) describes the direct expenses incurred in producing a particular good for sale, including the actual cost of materials that comprise the good, and direct labor expense in putting the good in salable condition.
Cost of sales or cost of goods sold is the identification of the cost of those items sold in the most recent accounting period.
If the cost of goods sold is too high gross profit will not support the indirect expenses and will result in a loss for the accounting period.

 CRS Report: 95-15 - Below-Cost Timber Sales - NLE
Sales are often modified during planning and preparation to mitigate damages to or enhance the value of nontimber resources on or near the sale area, thereby mixing timber and nontimber costs and benefits.
Timber sales can also affect other economic sectors, but data on other resource-dependent sectors (e.g., the "recreation industry") and their linkage to timber sale levels are rare.
Although sale efficiency and steps to improve efficiency could be significant factors in assessing and reducing the frequency and magnitude of below-cost timber sales, a detailed examination of such factors is beyond the scope of this report.

When figuring their cost, a lot of folks overlook the cost associated with the additional shares they acquired through a dividend reinvestment plan.
If the last shares were acquired in the DRIP within one year of the sale, then you need to allocate the sale between long-term and short-term on a per-share basis.
In fact, the sale is usually accompanied by a reacquisition, because the investor may still believe in the company (or fund, as the case may be).

Drugged by cost of sales and PR - National - theage.com.au
THE most prescribed drug in the country is costing patients and taxpayers almost $200 million a year more than it should because of marketing expenses.
But more than double that figure is spent on marketing the drug, taking the total cost to the taxpayer — after the PBS subsidy is added — to $581.5 million each year.
According to Choice, the consumer rights watchdog that analysed the PBS data, the price patients pay for common drugs could be slashed by at least a third if drug companies stopped their aggressive marketing campaigns, which are largely aimed at convincing doctors to switch from a similar drug.

If your sales fluctuate, you will simply have to build in and account for the increase in customer acquisition by appreciating it or depreciating by say for instance, the difference in the size of your sales force.
I deal with this cost on daily basis and what I can recommend at this point is to start by identifying all the costs involved within a month (advertising, telemarketing, operational etc) and calculate a montly average cost per new customer.
Cost of a perticular sale would be basically all the cost that the company beared to get that deal.
