		Costilla County is a county located in the U.S. state of Colorado.
		Costilla County was of the original 17 counties created by the Colorado legislature on November 1, 1861.
		In the county the population was spread out with 25.00% under the age of 18, 6.60% from 18 to 24, 23.30% from 25 to 44, 28.30% from 45 to 64, and 16.80% who were 65 years of age or older.

		Costilla County is also home to many wildlife such as deer, elk, antelope-which may often be seen in herds grazing in the fields.
		Also in Costilla County is 633 acres of common land called the Vega, mostly wetlands, which is part of the Sange de Cristo Land Grant (such as being descendants of Colorado's first settlers), to bring certain numbers of farm animals such as horse, cattle and sheep to graze in the Vega.
