Cotteridge used to be part of the Parish of Kings Norton.
Cotteridge has a thriving community of small retailers and whilst many of the shops tend to be run down and dilapidated, improvements are being made.
The housing in Cotteridge consists of mainly 1900's Victorian construction and this is a well established area of Birmingham.

Members of Friends of Cotteridge Park have been raising funds for the last five months to collect enough cash to purchase a piece of land for use as a community orchard.
Emma Woolf, from Friends of Cotteridge Park, said: “Thanks to Midlands Co-op’s grant we are now about a year ahead of schedule regarding the purchase and planting of the land.
Lynne Jones MP, who has supported the group’s plans, added: “The aim of Cotteridge Community Orchard is to give local people the chance to plant, grow, harvest and eat their own food and, at the same time, extend the park’s green boundary.

Cotteridge is located to the south-west of Birmingham city centre, close to King's Heath, Bournville & Selly Oak.
Shirley Road is a quiet residential street close to main bus routes and 10 mins walk from King's Norton train station.
Round the corner is Cotteridge Park, a peaceful retreat from City living, open air concerts and firework displays are held in the summer.

 Friends of Cotteridge Park
Cotteridge Park is one of the many Victorian parks in the city, consisting of over 22 acres gradually accrued by a series of purchases made by the former King's Norton Urban District Council between February 1905 and December 1909.
The Friends of Cotteridge Park was formed in March 1997 in response to the threat of 'de-commissioning' by the City Council due to budget cuts.
Since then Friends of Cotteridge Park have met on a monthly basis to organise many events in the park, and to instigate and run long-term initiatives.

Cotteridge exhibition: In 2002 our Meeting House was 100 years old and Quakers were 350 years old.
There is also a group of young people of secondary age who meet for half an hour during Meeting for Worship before joining the main meeting.
Most people at Cotteridge Friends Meeting have joined the Society of Friends as adults although a minority are "birthright Friends" who were born into Quaker homes.

The Cotteridge Church is the result of a Local Ecumenical Project between Anglicans, Methodists and United Reformed Churches in a busy south Birmingham suburb.
The project was in partnership with the city's Social Services Department and Area Health Authority.
