	Couesnon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The Couesnon River (/kwenɔ̃/) is a short (90 km, 56 mile long) river running from the département of Mayenne in north-western France, forming an estuary at Mont Saint-Michel.
		The mouth of the Couesnon, at Mont Saint-Michel.
		In the 20th century, the Couesnon was turned into a canal, to reduce the erosion of its banks.

		Couesnon was "estabished" in 1882 when Amedee Auguste Couesnon, the son-in-law of P.L. Guatrot, took over the directorship of Guatrot-Durand et Cie (read "Guatrot-Durand and company").
		Couesnon was "reformed" in 1931, as Couesnon S.A. (read: "Couesnon, Incorporated") with the inclusion of L'Association Generale des Ouvriers, Feuillet, Guichard, Lecomte, I. Lot, Massin and Thibouville, Triebert, Marquet, and "several others".
		Again, after Couesnon was reformed in 1931, there was a slight gap in sax manufacture (it may be that I just haven't seen any horns from about 1931 to 1940).

		Yours has a later serial number, and is surely the same model Couesnon as mine, a 2155 model.
		Earlier Couesnons had a little pineapple stamped on the bell near the Couesnon name.
		Inside the pineapple was a two digit number indicating the year (in the 20th century) that the horn was made.

		Or.....can it be that the old Couesnon's reputation is built more on hearsay than on actual hands-on experience?
		I'd really like to get the couesnon and it looks an amazing deal, but I dunno if I can afford it which is a reeeal shame.

		Ive recently been trying to find info on the horns and the company to try and fill in the holes in the records that have been kept by the band here(I'm one of the equipment managers this year)
		I know that all the archived serial number data was lost in a fire(I dont remember the year) I do know that we purchased 10 Couesnon flugels in 1963 which for us generally means from the factory, with consecutive serial numbers 52xxx.
		Im trying to determine the year of a single flugel, purchased after the original set, serial number 83xxx but the purchase date was never recorded.
