On January 9, 1944 it was turned into Council of National Unity, the underground parliament of Poland.
Rada Jedności Narodowej (Council of National Unity, RJN) was the quasi-parliament of the Polish Secret State during World War II.
On July 1, 1945, the RJN issued the Do Narodu Polskiego i Narodów Zjednoczonych (To the Polish Nation and the United Nations) manifesto and the so-called Testament of the Fighting Poland, in which it underlined the basic Polish aims of the war and the principles of Polish-Soviet relations.

ROME 2 Oct. (IPS) Afghanistan’s’ Supreme Council for the National Unity (SCNU) will held its opening session in Rome within two weeks to take the first steps in convening an emergency Loya Jirga, according to a senior Afghan source.
The Council had received the full support of the eleven members US Congressmen who had come to Rome to meet with Zaher Shah and assess his capabilities as an "umbrella" to Afghan organisations and personalities fighting the Taleban.
The creation of the SCNU was decided Monday at the end of three days intensive and sometimes heated negotiations held between various Afghan groups, including representatives from the Northern Alliance and the advisers of the former Afghan Monarch, Mohammad Zaher Shah.

The new Afghan council's main task will be to convene a loya jirga, a centuries-old form of national assembly involving hundreds or even thousands of people who ratify constitutions or elect rulers.
The council then will convene a larger assembly on Afghan soil with a mandate to form a provisional government to run the country for two years and restore a constitutional democracy after more than two decades of war.
Yesterday's pact was a breakthrough in international efforts to build an alternative to the Taliban, which is harboring Osama bin Laden, the Muslim fundamentalist viewed by the United States as the prime suspect in Sept. 11 attacks in New York and near Washington.

The Security Council this afternoon called for an urgent establishment of a government of national unity in Guinea-Bissau and the holding of general and presidential elections there no later than the end of March 1999.

 National Unity Advisory Council reactivated
KUALA LUMPUR: The National Unity Advisory Council under the purview of the Prime Minister's Department has been reactivated to deal with issues pertaining to national unity problems in government efforts to promote national integration.
The appointment of the 53 council members had been approved by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and its inaugural meeting would be held in September, he said when replying to Tan Sri Dr Ting Chew Peh (BN-Gopeng), and elaborating on the matter later at a media conference at the Parliament lobby here Tuesday.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili said he would chair the council and discuss problems related to unity, determine solutions and strategies to tackle the problems and which would be used as reference by the ministry.
