Council of Siena - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the Roman Catholic Church, the Council of Siena (1423 - 1424) marked a somewhat inconclusive stage in the Conciliar movement that was attempting reforms in the church.
In the Roman Catholic official List of ecumenical councils, the Council of Siena is no longer listed, as the conciliarism expressed there was later branded as a heresy.
At Siena, the procedure of the Council followed that established at Constance.

Internal discords among the principal families, the recurrence in Siena of the conflicts between the Bianchi (whites) and Neri (fls), for which the city was excommunicated by Clement V, the seditions of the butchers, doctors, and notaries, fomented by the nobles excluded from the government, failed to displace the Guelph merchants.
The suffragans of Siena are Chiusi and Pienza, Grosseto, Massa Marittima, Sovana, and Pitigliano.
The French would have preferred to continue the Council until the "reform" of the church "in capite et in membris" (in its head and its members) had been accomplished, but whether to avoid a new schism, or on account of fear of the pope (since Siena was too near the Papal States), they departed.

Council of Constance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Council of Constance was an ecumenical council of the Roman Catholic Church, called by the Emperor Sigismund, a supporter of Antipope John XXIII, the pope recently elected at Pisa.
The council was held from November 16, 1414 to April 22, 1418 in Constance.
An innovation at the Council was that instead of voting as individuals, the bishops voted in national blocs, explicitly confirming the national pressures that had fueled the schism since 1378.

The Council of Constance was an ecumenical council of the Catholic Church, called by the Emperor Sigismund, a supporter of Pope John XXIII, the pope recently elected at Pisa.
As feared, the new pope, Martin V, elected November 1417, soon asserted the absolute authority of the papal office, and the claim that a council might be superior to a single pope was set aside when it was later declared that a council of Bishops has no greater authority than the Pope.
Pawel Wlodkowic, rector of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland, presented there the theory that all nations, including pagan ones, have the right to self-govern and to live in peace and possess their land, which is one of the earliest ideas of international law.

 Council of Basel
The Council of Basel convened in 1431 as the 17th ecumenical council of the Roman Catholic church.
Its ostensible purpose was to initiate church reform and bring an end to the difficulties with the Hussites, but it originated in a decree of the Council of Constance (1417) that required the calling of councils at regular intervals.
Although the council accomplished a partial reconciliation with the Hussites, its efforts at reform were largely ineffective.

But the council (three cardinals at the moment, plus thirty-two bishops and abbots, plus a legion of doctors) was resolved that the pope should cry Peccavi, explicitly assenting to its doctrine that General Councils cannot be dissolved without their own consent.
Yet once again it renewed the decrees of Constance about the General Council's superiority to the pope, and on June 9, 1435, it abolished the main source of the Curia Romana's revenue, the taxes payable on a bishop's appointment (annates) declaring them to be simony--which was certainly not the case however onerous they might prove.
He denounced the council to the princes of Christendom for what it really was, arranged with the Greeks that Ferrara would be a suitable meeting place, and sent to Basel a bull transferring the council to that city (September 18, 1437).
