Nigeriaworld Feature Article - Council of State is only for democrats
Today the anti-democratic behavior of General Buhari is bothering me. I thought I should revisit the question of the composition of the Council of State in the context of the role of former military Heads of State who become partisan politicians, especially in their relation with a democratically elected President.
To demonstrate that the institution of the Council of State is not to be used during the military administration for obvious reasons and that the institution was conceived as a democratic contrivance and for the functioning of a democratic order and not for a military regime.
Since the Council of State is a democratic contrivance and since it is meant to service a democratically elected President, one would expect that what the "Founding Fathers" had in mind was a former democratically elected President.
