Regent Munger asked several questions relating to the availability of scholarships and student services to various minority and non-minority students and the relationship of the percentage of minority students who receive scholarships to the percentage of minorities in the general population.
Regent Munger asked what the classroom usage was for ASU West and was told it is 16% in total, but is at capacity in the evening for classrooms that hold 70 or more students, 85% of capacity for classrooms that hold 50 to 70 students, and 67% of capacity for smaller classrooms.
Regent Hurwitz reminded Regents that the Enrollment Growth Commission discussed the mission of ASU West and whether it should change from an upper division campus to a four-year campus and the clear consensus was it should not change.

 Bylaws - USM
Five days notice of any special meeting shall be given to all board members, except when the Chairperson determines that special circumstances warrant a shorter notice.
Individual Regents may participate in a Board meeting through such means, and such Regents shall be counted for quorum purposes and their votes shall be counted when determining the actions of the Board.
Regents may monitor Board meetings by telephone but may not be counted for quorum purposes and they shall not vote on actions of the Board.

 Maintaining Your Regents' Scholarship
As a Regents’ Scholar, you are entitled to a maximum of eight consecutive semesters of the scholarship as long as you meet the eligibility requirements.
To graduate as a Regents’ Scholar, you must have received the Regents’ Scholarship for a minimum of 75 percent of your eligible semesters.
Regents’ Scholars are expected to conduct themselves according to the rules and regulations outlined in the UNM Student Handbook.

 ACP-ASIM Observer, March 2002 - Regents examine adding seats to board, other issues
At its January meeting, the Board of Regents discussed issues including recertification, adding representatives from other subspecialties to the Board of Regents, revamping dues for Associate members and a policy barring discrimination against resident physicians.
The Board approved a position statement from the Council of Associates that says no physician-in-training should be discriminated against based on gender, sexual preference, race, ethnicity, religion or country of origin.
The Council worried that the Sept. 11 attacks may have subjected some residents and fellows to discrimination because of their culture, religion or ethnicity.

The Board of Regents shall rely on the Chancellor, the presidents of the several institutions in the System, and their deans and faculties to develop, adapt, and administer the academic methods and procedures deemed by them to be most effective in promoting efficiency of operations and most appropriate to the advancement of learning.
Administrative officers shall be appointed by the president with the approval of the Board of Regents and shall hold office at the pleasure of the president.
The Regents' Writing and Reading Skills requirement is not a requirement for an associate of applied science degree or an associate of science degree in an allied health field, although institutions may choose to require it for these degrees.

 Washburn University Board of Regents
The University Council, as an agent of the General Faculty, shall formulate and recommend to the Board of Regents, through the President, policies for the University which shall be subject to final action by the Board of Regents.
The Chairperson and the Vice-Chairperson of the University Council shall be elected annually at the first meeting by the voting membership of the University Council from the elected members of the University Council.

Since the councils are advisory to the president, ad hoc committee members felt the councils should be comprised of faculty members who have the authority to monitor what is occurring in athletics.

The students claim that the Regents breached contracts for the price of spring semester and summer term when UC schools raised spring and summer tuition after students had already registered and been billed for classes.
Last week, the Regents increased those fees for professional students by 25 to 30% -- almost $2,000 a year for law, business, and medical students.
The students are being represented by Andrew D. Freeman and Deborah Thompson Eisenberg of the Maryland firm Brown, Goldstein and Levy, and Jonathan Weissglass of the San Francisco firm Altshuler, Berzon, Nussbaum, Rubin and Demain.

 Five biomedical campus plans prepared for Regents review - The Business Journal of Phoenix:
The five plans range from renovating the three historic buildings on the former Phoenix Union High School campus and adding two academic buildings, to adding several buildings that would be owned by Phoenix or the ABC.
Proposals were prepared for presentation to the Arizona Board of Regents at its Nov. 21 meeting at the University of Arizona.
The regents are expected to discuss the plans in detail, with schematics and square footages, during their Jan. 22-23 meeting at Arizona State University.

Hideyoshi chose his five most powerful daimyo: Ukita Hideie, Maeda Toshiie, Uesugi Kagekatsu, Mori Terumoto, and the famous Tokugawa Ieyasu.
It was Hideyoshi's hope that the members of the council would balance each other, preventing any one of them from taking control.
War did not actually break out until mid-1600; it ended the same year, at the Battle of Sekigahara, ending in an uneasy peace that left Hideyori alive and in control of Osaka Castle.

It is ironic that while he himself was a model of upward social mobility, Hideyoshi implemented social legislation that effectively formalized the class distinction between samurai and farmers into a cast distinction.
Hideyoshi summoned his most important vassals to his sickbed and established a council of five regents, each of whom was made to sign a pledge of loyalty to the young Hideyori.
Within two years this council of regents was broken and Tokugawa Ieyasu rose to supremacy, assuming the title of Shogun in 1603.
