Count Fleet, born March 24, 1940 at Stoner Creek Stud farm in Paris, Kentucky, United States and died there on December 3, 1973, was a thoroughbred racehorse and Triple Crown champion in 1943.
In 1961, Count Fleet was inducted in the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.
Count Fleet died on December 3, 1973 and was buried at Stoner Creek farm in Paris, Kentucky.

John D., Hertz's Count Fleet, of course, was the cause of the difficulty.
Count Fleet has materially improved on the record of his sire though it must be recorded that Reigh Count, after winning the Kentucky Derby, was out of action until Saratoga because of a cut suffered in a preparatory race.
It was reported shortly after the race that Count Fleet had struck himself during the early running, and his left fore ankle was immediately X-rayed for possible serious injury, though the colt was walking soundly.

Count Fleet had found his stride, because in his final outing of the year, the leggy brown colt turned the Walden Stakes into something barely resembling a race, winning by at least thirty lengths and wrapping up the championship honors that had seemed to belong to Occupation only a month before.
Count Fleet was retired early when it was discovered that his injured near front fetlock, wrenched in the Belmont Stakes, would not respond to treatment.

At the start of the Wood, a horse ridden by George Woolf, Longden's childhood buddy from Canada, collided with Count Fleet and caused a deep gash in one of Count Fleet's coronet bands, which is where the hair meets the hoof on a horse's ankle.
Although Longden believed he deserved credit for nursing Count Fleet through the Belmont, Eddie Arcaro, who had won the 1941 Triple Crown aboard Calumet Farm's Whirlaway, later was harshly critical of Longden's ride in the Belmont.
The Count died on Dec. 3, 1973, at the age of 33.
