Grishnakh   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
Grishnakh was part of a group of Orc hunters under the dark lord Sauron's dominion that joined Ugluk's Uruk-hai troop on the plains of Rohan.
Grishnakh's plans for the troops' captives, Merry and Pippin, were in conflict with Ugluk's orders to deliver them to the wizard Saruman.
The name Count Grishnakh was also used as the stage name for Varg Vikernes (originally Kristian Vikernes) in the Norwegian fl metal band Mayhem.

Burzum - Biocrawler   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
It was formed by Varg Vikernes (born Kristian Vikernes), under the name of Count Grishnackh.
Vikernes remained with Old Funeral for two years, deciding in 1991 to create a solo project instead, in which he could write and record a "more original and personal type of music" (some consider Burzum to be a progression of the band Uruk-Hai, for several of the same riffs are used in Vikernes' compositions).
The choice of the name for the project reflects both this influence and the desire for anonymity: "Burzum" is a word of the Black Speech of Mordor meaning "darkness", and is therefore to be found on the Ring-inscription of the One Ring.

Burzum is a famous Norwegian fl metal band which was formed in 1987 by Count Grishnackh (Varg Vikernes, born Kristian Vikernes).
Grishnackh and his project were instrumental in the movements of the fl metal inner circle, and Grishnackh later gained great infamy when he murdered Euronymous, the guitarist of the famous band Mayhem.
Burzum was formed by the then-14-year-old Count Grishnackh in 1987.

Burzum shows a strong Tolkien influence general – for example the name Count is taken from an orc called Grishnákh in Tolkien's works.

In the early days the group was steeped in Tolkein lore with the names URAK-HAI, Grishnakh and BURZUM ('Darkness') all lifted from Orc titles and languages.
Count Grisnackh murdered his apparent rival MAYHEM vocalist Euronymous (real name Øystein Aarseth) on August 9th 1993 by stabbing him at his doorstep.
The Count made front page headlines once more on 25th October of 2003 when, aided by accomplices, he spectacularly broke out of prison.

What is interesting to us is that he presented himself as Count Grishnáckh (sic) in court, for which reason he is commonly known as Greven (The Count) in Norway.
His one-man Black Metal band was called Burzum, this being the Black Speech word for "darkness", taken from the inscription on the Ring:...agh burzum-ishi krimpatul, "and in the darkness bind them".
The Count's philosophy is extreme, based on ideals very far from the ones that are presently endorsed in our society, but his thoughts do form a coherent whole.

 BURZUM | Rockdetector
In the early days the group, established in 1987, was titled KALASHNIKOV, after the Russian assault rifle, but being steeped in Tolkein lore, a revised title of URUK-HAI, after the Sauron high Orcs, was adopted.
Subsequently both his personal title Grishnakh and BURZUM ('Darkness') were also lifted from Orc titles and languages.
The band split in 1989 with band mentor Count Grisnackh formed SATANEL with IMMORTAL members Demonaz and Abbath.

Also around this time there was a rash of church burnings in Norway that Aarseth's circle claimed responsibility for inspiring, if not necessarily perpetrating.
The most notable church was Norway's Fantoft Church, which was burned by a member of Euronymous's inner circle, and the man behind the one-man band Burzum, Kristian "Varg" Vikernes, aka "Count Grishnakh".
Black metal enthusiasts also started to terrorize other notable "death metal" bands that were touring their country or in neighboring countries, on the basis of their lack of apparent "evilness".

Count Grishnacht, aka Varg Vikernes, now sits in a Norwegian prison on murder charges.
Seems the good Count got a little jealous of Mayhem's Euronymous and decided to snuff him.

Much has been said and written about Kristian Vikernes, more popularly known as Varg (wolf) or Count Grishnakh and his solo musical project Burzum.
That interview had got him into jail for sometime and into the eyes of the authorities that suspected the fl metal movement of Norway to be involved in a series of criminal activities of desecration and other offences.
Varg was convicted not only for the murder but also for various counts of church burning incidents.

Neither amazingly fast, nor ploddingly slow, the record teeters between Black and Thrash Metal, blending both elements together like poisoned wine to be administered as the last supper to all followers of x-ist.
The true beauty of "Verised Relvad" is the way it honors the old Black Metal innovators like Count Grishnakh.
A special treat, included as a "bonus" track, is a song penned by Thonolan in 1996 and is likely the first song ever written by Realm of Carnivora.

Choose from pretty boys A-ha or the church-burning fl-metal movement, which never recovered from singer Count Grishnakh stabbing a rival to death.
Lately, however, the coastal town of Bergen has spawned a fertile scene centred on the Tell label, and Royksopp's Svein Berge and Torbjorn Brundtland are its most compelling exports.

A lot of people in fl metal bands are satanist or anti-christian (and most of you reading this are probably saying "You don't say!?" sarcastically).
I have heard about that bloke Burzum, or Count Grishnakh, in prison for burning three churches, and murdering a member of Euronymous, and somewhere in Kerrang!, it said that his mother said "He is a good boy really!", no lie!
Bands such as Gorgoroth, Gandalf, Sauron, Ephel Duath, Amon amarth etc all take there names from Lord of The Rings, Oh and Count Grishnakh was a name of an orc from Lord of The Rings but the Count part was added.

Death/grind, power/speed, they don't really care if they get mixed up because they're basically the same thing.
Black metal has some well documented incidents (see the book "Lords Of Chaos" by Michael Moynihan) of violence, most notably the church-burnings (for one of which Samoth of Emperor was arrested) and Euronymous' murder at the hands of fellow fl-metaler, Count Grishnakh, aka Varg Vikernes.
Another incident was Mayhem's then vocalist Dead-quite fitting-killing himself, then Mayhem using a picture of his suicide, complete with blood and shotgun, as a cover for a later album (Dawn of the Black Hearts, if anyone's interested*).
