The Countryside Council for Wales is the statutory adviser to government on sustaining natural beauty, wildlife, and the opportunity for outdoor enjoyment throughout Wales and its inshore waters.
Deer issues in Wales are considered by the Wales Deer Initiative, a body with representation from CCW, Forestry Commission (FC), Timber Growers Association (TGA), the National Farmers Union (NFU), and the Farmers Union of Wales (FUW).
In CCW's significant experience as land managers (we manage c.50,000 acres of land) and as advisors on landscape and wildlife, we are not aware of any evidence that there is landscape or wildlife benefit as a result of the practice of hunting with dogs.
