  Radio Authority receives one declaration of intent to apply for Guildford FM and AM licences
This was from the existing licence-holder, County Sound Ltd., broadcasting as 96.4 The Eagle on FM and County Sound Radio 1566 on AM.
County Sound will have until the beginning of November to submit its applications for the new licence period, which will be made on the basis of maintaining the existing programme formats, as required under the Authority’s agreed procedure.
The Radio Authority is responsible for licensing and regulating Independent Radio in accordance with the statutory requirements of the Broadcasting Acts 1990 and 1996.

The Radio Authority is next week (16 August) publishing a notice inviting declarations of intent to apply for the local radio licences for the Guildford area for an eight-year period from 4 April 2004.
The licences are at present held by County Sound Ltd., broadcasting as 96.4 The Eagle on the FM (VHF) waveband, and County Sound Radio 1566 on AM (medium wave).
The Authority welcomes views from the public about the local radio needs of listeners in this area, the extent to which these are met by the existing services of 96.4 The Eagle and County Sound Radio 1566, and the type of programme services required in future.

Continuing on Radio Hara: I have been mentioning that the station is spelled "Radio Hara" and not "Khara" as used in parts of the DX press.
He expressed hope that these illegal radio stations would suspend their operations until they obtain a license from the government, which might be issued before the election in April.

The original UK Radio Developments was formed 22nd August 1990 as a vehicle to invest in new radio licences.
The set-up of Pirate FM 102 was the first task of the newly formed Infinity Radio Ltd, an investment and radio consultancy company.
The resultant company, the new County Sound Radio Network Ltd, is now also owned by UKRD and controls and operates three radio stations; 96.4 The Eagle, County Sound Radio 1566 AM, Delta FM (formerly Wey Valley Radio).

Overall, Canadians listened to the radio an average of 20.1 hours per week in the fall of 2001, approximately the same as in the three years since 1998 when four consecutive years of decline came to an end.
I checked 1566 at 2230 UT on 22nd October and the programming there (albeit faint) matched that on 1548 which is a parallel of BBC Radio Bristol which was airing the same program.
I remember some AM stations in the 60s who were very sensitive to the slightest skywave interference from another station and constantly wrote letters to stations they felt were causing interference and to the FCC.

Radio Contemporánea (presumably also from Buenos Aires) has been logged on 1130 kHz by Horacio Colacce, and an unauthorized station called AM Presencia from Martinez, north of Buenos Aires, has been heard by Arnaldo Slaen on 1450 kHz (ex-1130 kHz).
