  Wiltshire County Council | Swindon southern development : impacts at M4 Junction 16
The local highway authorities (Swindon Borough Council, Wiltshire County Council and the Highways Agency) needed to be satisfied that the developer’s proposed changes to Junction 16 would be sufficient to cater for the new levels of traffic that would be using it.
On 22 November, Wiltshire County Council’s Cabinet considered a Report on the assessment of the developer’s proposals for Junction 16.  The Report was informed by further technical assessments undertaken by independent traffic consultants Halcrow.
Wiltshire County Council will seek to work closely with the borough council to mitigate the wider impacts that are forecast to result from future development pressures in Swindon.

Greeted by a huge ovation that must surely have been heard in parts of West Swindon, let alone by those enjoying a 'free' concert while enjoying a barbecue in nearby gardens, Elton took the stage by storm and immediately got on with the show.
In all, it was two hours of some of the best musical entertainment on the planet, and was brought to the perfect conclusion with a touching rendition of 'Sorry', still sounding as sweet as the original recording he made 35 years ago.

 Arkell's Brewery: The County Ground Hotel, Swindon
The year that it opened is commemorated by a terracotta plaque on the side of the building which includes a portrait of Queen Victoria who was celebrating her diamond jubilee in the same year.
The County Ground is now a popular boarding house for contractor workers, and continues to be a favourite watering hole for football fans whenever Swindon Town are playing at home and a down-to-earth 'local' when they are not.
