Courtney Hicks Hodges (January 5, 1887 – January 16, 1966) was an American military officer, most prominent for his role in World War II, in which he commanded the U.S. First Army in Northwest Europe.
In May 1945, after the German surrender, Hodges and his troops were prepared for an invasion of Japan; however, that became unnecessary when the atomic bomb caused Japan's surrender later in that year.
Hodges died in San Antonio, Texas in 1966.

After WW2, he led his troops, which remained stationed at (additional info and facts about Fort Sam Houston) Fort Sam Houston, (The second largest state; located in southwestern United States on the Gulf of Mexico) Texas, until his retirement in March 1949.
Hodges died in (A city of south central Texas; site of the Alamo; site of several military bases and a popular haven for vacationers) San Antonio, Texas in 1966.
