		A court is a public forum used by a power base to adjudicate disputes and dispense civil, labour, administrative and criminal justice under its laws.
		In common law and civil law states, courts are the central means for dispute resolution, and it is generally understood that all persons have an ability to bring their claims before a court.
		Procedural law governs the rules by which courts operate: civil procedure for private disputes (for example); and criminal procedure for violation of the criminal law.

	Court rules - Wex
		Courts of general jurisdiction have the power to hear claims as long as there is a controversy among parties with diverse interests and conflicting claims.
		Each court has certain defined jurisdiction and categories of disputes may be excluded because of the amount at stake.

	Moot Court - UofM Law School
		In their second year, all students who are not on one of our law journals must participate in moot court.
		All the moot courts provide students training in written and oral advocacy, by giving students mock problems involving current "real world" legal issues, and then requiring the students to argue the cases to appellate courts.
		Each law student that participated in the court trial showed confidence and knowledge of the law.

	University of Tennessee College of Law: Moot Court Board

	EU Law Moot Court
		Sadly the Law School team left Luxembourg without the cup, which was awarded to the U.K. team from Inner Temple for the general competition and to the College of Europe - Natolin for the Advocate General Competition.
		The European Law Moot Court Competition is the second largest international moot court in the world, and the largest and most prestigious in Europe.
		Doubts as to what a U.S. law school could possibly achieve on a European Union law competition were silenced when some of the participating teams faced the NYU School of Law team as their opponent.

	Law: court decisions subject guide
		In actual operation, the trial court may have numerous subdivisions and special branches (e.g., probate, family court, small claims court, etc.) but every jurisdiction has a trail court of general jurisdiction at which most disputes are initially adjudicated.
		In some cases, after the determination of an appeal in the intermediate appeal court, a second appeal may be taken, this time to the court of last resort.

	Family Law Court Program
		The Family Law Court Program ("FLCP") assists clients with relatively uncomplicated, UNCONTESTED divorce or custody matters where the other party is not represented by an attorney.
		The staff at MVL will file your case for you and arrange for personal service of court documents on the other party (called the “respondent”) as the law requires, usually by a private process server or a sheriff.
		Your volunteer lawyer will prepare you to appear in court and then represent you in court in a hearing before a judge or magistrate who will consider the documents and evidence and enter a Decree of Dissolution and such other orders as are required.

	Moot Court
		Established in 1968, the student run Florida State University Moot Court Team is recognized as one of the nation's leading university moot court teams.
		Participation in Moot Court allows individual teams of between two and three members to compete against other universities in an appellate court atmosphere.
		Students are chosen during the three-day Annual Spring Intramural Competition sponsored by the law firm of Gray Harris.
