	Voyager Golden Record - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The Voyager Golden Record is a gramophone record, attached to the two Voyager spacecraft launched in 1977, containing sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth.
		The contents of the record were selected for NASA by a committee chaired by Carl Sagan of Cornell University.
		While parts of the record cover appear in Star Trek: The Motion Picture as part of V'ger, the record itself was apparently not placed on the fictional Voyager 6 probe.

	Record Collecting Terminology
		Re-release--A record that was out of print for a certain period of time and the original company decides to put it back into their catalog of available items.
		Many times in the 50s the "cover" record was by a white artist "covering" a song by a fl artist or fl group.
		These were records that the labels are usually a different color than the regular issue and have these designations to show that these records were free or at a reduced price to DJs, radio stations, record reviewers and the like and that they cannot be returned for credit.

		The standard sleeves for 78 RPM records in albums were made of light kraft paper, folded together and glued at the spine and top or bottom, reportedly with a strip folded inside the sleeve which could damage the new vinylite of which the Lp was made.
		The Remington covers have an originality of their own which is also brought about by the vertical logo (designed by Steinweiss) on the left of the cover which had to be "integrated" in the artwork.
		On the cover of the recording of Dvorak's 4th (8th) Symphony designer Rado beautifully expressed a mood which was actually really in contrast with the strength of some movements of that symphony and accentuates the sense of beauty.

	The Voyager Interstellar Record
		But the Voyager record is not a CED, as all the information on the disc is recorded in the audio frequency range, and the disc is designed to spin at only 16 2/3 RPM requiring 12 seconds to play back a color image.
		The Voyager record is secured in plain view on the outside of the Voyager Spacecraft with a spider mounting to which is also affixed the stylus cartridge used to play the disc.
		The symbols around the periphery of the record are a binary representation of the time required for one revolution of the record where a binary 0 is represented by a dash and a binary 1 is represented by the same vertical symbol used with the hydrogen transition above.

	Grading Standards
		There may be a minor scuff resulting from simply reoving the record from the sleeve.
		The record should play without noise (over the scuff) which should not cover more than a few tracks.
		Covers should be Excellent (EX / VG++) grade but may a have small amount of writing, some minor wear to the seam or spine and slight again; but no more than three (3) flaws.
