Callin’ Eagle Singers are busy singing and dancing traveling to various schools exhibiting their talent in song and dance.
We the Kingbird Singers are from Ponemah, MN on the Red Lake Nation Indian; Reservation in Northern MN.
Hailing from Red Lake, Minnesota, the late Johnson Kingbird was a prominent Ojibwa singer in the early heyday of the art.

Cozad was born June 27, 1861, in Henry county, Ill., but he had made his home for 24 years in Muscatine.
Cozad married Ella Edwards in 1889 in Kansas.
Sarah Brown, all of Muscatine; two brothers, John Cozad, Cheney Wash., and William of Muscatine; 13 grandchildren.

The Waterbird Singers, a trio of Kiowa Indians, played traditional music yesterday during the 12 o'clock hour as part of CU's celebration of Native American Awareness Week.
All three are members of the Kiowa Nation of Anadarko, Okla. The only instruments in play during their performances are the three men's voices, and a large drum situated in the center of the group.
The group played songs ranging from a Kiowa Round End Song, to a Gourd Dance, a War Dance, and a few Kiowa Rabbit Society songs for a group of energetic children from the CU Children's Center who had come to listen and dance.

The Drum instrument is made from a hollow drum basis and is usually covered with animal rawhide, usually a cow, buffalo, or deer.
The sticks the singers use to keep the beat on the drum are usually wooden or fiberglass rods with a buckskin leather padded head.
Only the male singers sit around the drum and beat the drum while the female singers sit directly behind the male singers.

It appeared to me, that the Cozad singers were flattered and proud to have their song sung by BL.

Northern singers have a much higher pitch than the deep tones of the southern singers.
They also call out to the drum group the category of the next song, though the groups must pick the specific song to perform, and also occasionally take public requests for songs.
Picking a favorite drum group is very personal and there are hundreds to choose from but White likes the Cozad Singers and the Young Bird Singers--both from Oklahoma and of the southern style-and Big Bear Thunder Child from Canada and Meskwaki from Iowa representing the northern style.
